Default Defensive use - Legal Ramifications

Saw this article in NRA. Was thinking along the same lines. If bad guy wanted my car, I would toss the keys on the ground and while distracted, seek cover draw and fire. No such thing as a fair fight right? But would this stand up as self defense with a jury?
——-

One friend of mine carries a cheap metal money clip with some bills in it. When the street punk demands money, my friend slowly takes out the money clip and tosses it to the crook. Only he purposely tosses it so that it hits the ground short of the crook and, in fact, lands to one side or the other. The idea is that the crook will naturally follow the money clip with his eyes and that will give my friend a chance to move and draw.

Are you facing death or great bodily injury? Are they armed? Did they say "give me the keys or I'll shoot/kill you?" That got left out of the fact pattern.

You can't kill someone for a property only crime. You need to be facing an "imminent" threat of death or GBI.

Are you in a jurisdiction with a Soros elected libtard woke prosecutor? If they charge you, take you to trial do you want to wait months or years to just end up having 12 morons who don't know how to get out of jury duty decide your fate? All over a car?

Give 'em what they want and run. Call the police, report the crime, be an observant victim/witness. Then go home uninjured and hug your loved ones.

Shooting and killing someone is the absolute last thing you ever want to do.

Thanks - to add, yes, it would be an armed robbery scenario so fear of death and/or great bodily harm.

You are asking for legal advice from a bunch of people (myself included) who are not criminal defense attorneys. Even if someone was such an attorney, I doubt they would be willing to post anything here that could be construed as legal advice for which they would be found liable.

No two self-defense situations are alike and even starting from the same premise they can branch in so many different ways. Given the very skimpy facts you stated it might be justified. But there could just as easily be additional circumstances you didn't mention or think of that make it unjustified. It's very hard to have a blanket "yes in this case it's always justified" scenario. Real life doesn't work that way.

You have to ask yourself if you can articulate a reasonable imminent threat that justifies using deadly force. What factors may contribute to a yes, what may contribute to a no. Even then you could face an expensive legal trial. Search Youtube for "jarred ha karambit" to see an example of that.
