I normally carry my 9mm shield at 7:00 (lefty) IWB in a kydex holster. I've never been spotted or asked about printing. But next weekend I'll be at a public event involving me bending over a lot (think something like a carnival booth, fetching dropped stuff from the ground...)
Any suggestions I could get in a week? Ankle carry? I'll be in jeans all weekend. It will be a cooler area, so just double-layer? Some sort of man-purse or satchel? Or just go with a tucked shirt instead of loose and hope for the best? Suggestions welcome.

Maybe check out the Urban Carry?
Position it right and if you print at all it'll impress the ladies. ![]() https://www.cabelas.com/product/URBA...E&gclsrc=aw.ds |

If it gets warm, you can unbutton the cover shirt.

A belly band which is normally worn IWB but can be worn higher would likely work as well. They can be very affordable. |

I'm up in Ventura. Really hope you can make one of our gun shows sometime. We bought a belly-band holster for my wife that she doesn't use, so I am going to try that.

Not likely I will be up Ventura way unless I we are invited by the Gang Task Force or Corrections department. Supporting law enforcement conferences is pretty much the only time I travel professionally out of OC/Riverside. |

Op - Try 9 oclock right on your hip with the IWB. I can run my CW9 (basically a shield in size) there with shorts and an untucked polo that is semi form fitting no problem. I did it just this last weekend for an outdoor church service. I could probably get away with my G20 doing that as well. 5'-11, 190lbs.

Sorry for the late follow-up. Decided to stay with the tried-and-true. Carried the entire event, no problem. Much worry about nothing.

If they notice, they think "phone" or "knife" They don't think "gun" If you go beyond printing and your shirt pulls up and actually exposes the butt, there is a slim chance that someone will notice. There is a good chance that anyone who notices will be a "gun person" and either not say anything, or perhaps discreetly mention it to you. The risk is greater among people you see and work with every day, both because you risk letting your guard down, and they are more familiar with you and have more time to study your "bulges"

Glad that it worked out for you, OP. I carry the Shield .40 daily in a SmartCarry holster. It has a decent draw albeit a bit slower, of course, than an IWB but it is very, very hidden.

Might be OK for slacks... but I dropped my P380 into a pocket holster in a pair of khaki cargo shorts and the print outline, especially the grip, was VERY obvious.

something like this would be my thought for a "needing to bend over"/deep cover type situation. untucked, i worry less about the clip(s) of a holster being visible. with a tucked in shirt (and no jacket), they seem a bit obvious, but the holster shirts work well in that situation. |
