Ranking of judges
I remember there was a website for everyone who was in the running for various judicial offices and it said how they stood on various issues, how much of an originalist they were or something like that. Does anyone remember what that website was? I just got my ballot in the mail and I want t make an informed decision on the numerous judge positions.

Also see "The Robing Room": http://therobingroom.com/Default.aspx
This site only accepts rating from practicing attorneys. But I wouldn't place too much confidence in any rating site. Most have very small sample sizes and a quick read of the ratings suggests that he rater has a bias for, or against, the judge being rated. That doesn't make for a reliable evaluation.

Interesting.
The two judges that ran in SD Superior court, the loser that they endorsed, he was vilified as a creep, living up to his name. Apparently everyone felt uncomfortable in his courtroom. He even looked like one. The other, I didn't know too much about except he was a military judge for the Marines, yet ranked low. I'd take that site with some salt. |

The conservative judge voting guide that I know of, that has been around for a long time, is the judge voting guide. I don't know if it's perfect but at least it has some system and makes it easy to look by county.
The judge elections are really tough for voters to make informed decisions on because there's really nothing out there about most of these candidates.

This is just a data point from what I’ve found for endorsements. Just like ratings guides this also isn’t the determining factor. It’s San Diego specific but it might help if you look at your local party endorsements.
According to the Democratic Socialists of America San Diego chapter, the Democratic Party has endorsed Roberta Winston, Alana Robinson, Tim Nader, and Michelle Ialeggio. The Republican Party of San Diego endorses CJ Moody and Mark Skeels but they have not endorsed office no. 30 or 36. Last edited by Freelancer; 02-22-2020 at 7:50 AM.. |

I've used the https://judgevoterguide.com/ in the past. Easy to use.
Vote for high Judicial Index (JI). High JI indicates strict constructionist. Low number indicates judicial activist. Judges should NOT be a judicial activist. Their job is to interpret the law, not legislate from the bench. Qualifications (Q) for experience, reputation, integrity, and American Bar association rating. Higher the Q, the better. |
