Default 1911 Ambi Safety Removal

My SS Springfield TRP ambi safety is so stubborn that I just cannot remove it. I have a blue steel model that had no problem. This stainless model is so tight, that I cannot remove the safety.

Does anyone have a trick for removing it? I'd appreciate for any help.

Assuming the right grip panel retains the right side of your safety, remove the grip panel.
Then slide some 0.005" shim stock or even a strip of aluminum soda can under the safety to help pull it out.

Same issue with my EMP. Finally made a thin wedge from an old hard plastic credit card. Worked it in tight between safety and frame, wiggle safety, reposition wedge, wiggle safety, etc.

Once you get it apart use fine sandpaper to widen the slot so it fits better.

TOO TIGHT is what you want.
If you "free" it up, it will get sloppy with use.

I have never had a problem like this before. I will try the wedge thing tomorrow.
