Here are the specs:

Remington 700 SPS Varmint
Bell & Carlson A5 Stock
Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP Mil Reticle
Vortex Optics Precision Matched Rings (Lapped)
Vortex Bubble Level
Nightforce 1-piece 20MOA Base (Bedded)
Wyatt's Detachable Magazine Conversion
Timney Trigger
Harris 6-9" Bipod

And pics:

This is our sight-in target. The two on the left are the first two shots ever fired in the gun after bore sighting. I stabilized the rifle after these two shots and moved the cross hairs to the bullet impact and shot 8 more shots with minor tweaks.

This is the first 5 shot group I have ever shot with a bolt action rifle. It measured edge-to-edge at about 0.9455" which puts it at ~0.64 MOA with my shooting. I don't think I did too bad for my first time shooting a bolt gun. I hope to get my groups below 0.5 MOA with practice and custom loads. We were shooting factory Norma Match with Sierra 168gr HPBT MK bullets

Ive been wanting a .308 bolt action rifle for a while now and some of these pictures is really making me want to get one now.

Which one do you guys recommend for someone new to bolt action rifle? Not looking for somthing that will break the bank but nothing cheap either.

Remington or Savage with a heavy barrel. Then a decent scope setup. In all be ready to spend $1000-$1200. Then buy one ammo but as much of it as you can. Shoot through all that, then custom reload.

^^^^This.

The Remi SPS is a low cost model, between $750-$800, but you will eventually need to swap out the stock, if you plan on shooting long distances with it. You can find "used" Remi 700P HS Precision stocks all the time, due to people swapping them out almost right away for something they like. Like something from Bell &Carlson or Manners.

Bushnell makes low cost glass that will get the job done, without breaking the bank or needing you to sell your first born child.

The only 308 that I have left. Remington 788 purchased new in 1975 for $104.95 ($5 more because it was left handed)

Its already spoken for locally if I decide to do the chassis. It will probably be the better part of a year before I get it swapped out though. I am on a mission to save money right now, and that is low on the totem of things I NEED! That said, if buyer 1 backs out, I'll put you 2nd on the list.

I bought this from a friend at work for a price that's nearly criminal. I need to really stabilize it to check accuracy but it always hits where I put the cross hairs. That is a Leupold 3.5 -10 Vari-x 3 scope that came with the rifle.

It's a millett LRS 6-25x56 the scope itself gets a lot if mixed reviews but mostly because it's heavy and the rings it comes with are no good, but I've had pretty good luck with it!

First time out, I need practice

But 3 shots into a dime sized hole made me pretty happy, need to wrangle in those fliers.
