Need scope recommendations/ .22 Benjamin trail
Well I Really like this air rifle ..
I have enough room in the backyard that i set up a 20 yard shooting spot with a chair and table under a big lemon tree .... Lifes Good Today ......... But the center-point scope that came with it ,,is a piece of dog do-do Wouldn't stay centered , then a lens came loose inside messing up sight picture Can anyone recommend a decent scope for this air rifle That will take the abuse of the jolts

So far, I like Cabela's store brand "caliber-specific rimfire" scope. It's probably overkill for an air rifle at 20 yards, but it's got a nice big field of view and a forgiving eye relief.

For that air rifle, you need to stay with a scope that can handle the spring recoil. Conventional scopes, even one for a .308 hunting rifle, will die quickly on a "springer" air rifle.
Here's a link that might help. I'd seriously look at the Hawke Vantage 4x32 AO for your situation. 4x will be like your unmagnified vision at 5 yards instead of 20 yards. Should be plenty.

The Nikon Prostaff P3 Target EFR 3-9x40AO Precision is airgun rated. Which means it'll survive the rigors of a springer.
But your rifle is a Nitro Piston, so you don't need to worry about scopes that can last on a springer. However, I always put springer rated scopes even on Nitro Piston actions just to be sure.

Fun plinker When I first put up my shooting area . ..on top of a large wooden spool , few times I hit my backstop [ 4 x4 ] chunk of plywood The stray shots were sending slivers flying ,blowing thru ..... I improved backstop with 2 layers of 5/8 drywall Thanks for All the good choices Guys

Do they make a full size version The Benjamin has a large stock and sometimes to get proper eye relief you have to Lean into it with smaller scopes

There are many in the product UTG line: https://www.pyramydair.com/search-re...;NB:1&saSearch
If you find one you like, amazon may have it for a lot less (sometimes). You want a scope that also has a parallax or objective focus ability down to your minimum target distance (or close to it). This is because rimfire scopes with fixed parallax have zero parallax at 50 yards. This while centerfire fixed parallax scopes are set to 100 yards. If you are shooting 20 yards the typical fixed parallax scopes will have significant parallax errors. Not on sheep sized game, but on rats or typical airgun targets. Also, cheap rimfire and centerfire scopes get their reticles knocked loose by the forward aspect of springer "recoil". I would have to read through all those to know if they are all spring air rifle rate, but know that Leapers UTG have a reputation for surviving the back/front jolt of a spring (or gas ram) air rifle. Here the search is for UTG $50 to $125: https://www.pyramydair.com/a/Accesso.../pr_50_0T125_0 Here is a good place to research airgun, pellet and optics deals: https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?board=7 |

You could contact Pyramyd Air and ask for help selecting a scope:
888-262-4867 https://www.pyramydair.com/contact-us Often when I visit the site a chat window pops up offering to help me find something. You know what kind of magnification and eye relief you want. That is a good start. The right rings to marry the scope to your particular air rifle would be another. Most of the UTG scopes come with rings, but they may not be idea for you. I believe the 888 number is toll free... Good luck. Last edited by subscriber; 06-22-2020 at 6:34 AM.. |

Get one of these one piece mounts.
Great for springers and NPs. https://www.pyramydair.com/a/Accesso...scope_stops/51

I've used a UTG bug buster on my Gamo Nitro Piston rifle (similar power plant as your Benjamin Trail). The scope held up just fine. But getting the mounts to hold was a challenge. Ultimately, I solved the mount issue but I ended up beating the receiver to hell. Now I just won't put a scope on a magnum springer -- I shoot my gamo open sights. That scope now sits on my Hatsan PCP.
I think UTG scopes, in general are fairly robust. That bug buster was selling on Amazon with mounts for about $85 recently & then jumped to over $110. I was going to get one to put on my son's little .243 but went with another scope due to the price jump (I'm buying 2). $85 is reasonable but $110 is too high, in my opinion. I've seen the same scope offered for sale on some Mossberg rifle kits as well. |

My Gamo Whisper Silent Cat (springer upgraded to nitro piston) chewed up three scopes: a Simmons 22Mag, a Nikon, and a Winchester/Daisy. Now it's on the fourth one, an UTG Bug Buster.
People on air gun forums are swearing by UTG-Leapers, they are the best reviewed scopes on Pyramid Air and Airgundepot. I hope they are right. 100 rounds or so, is still holding zero, while none of the previous ones lasted 5 shots. So far so good.

A scope made to handle a 300 win mag without a break won't normally hold up to the reverse recoil of a springer air rifle. You need to make sure you get a scope that is built to take the extreme punishment of a spring piston air rifle.

I wanted that too and I wish I would have listened to people who knew more than I did. Fact: you won't find one that is capable to take the double (back and forth) recoil punishment of a nitro or spring rifle for that price.
Save yourself time and aggravation, add another $50 to your $70 scope budget and buy a Hawke or UTG rated for spring guns. https://www.amazon.com/UTG-3-9X32-Bu...g%2C248&sr=1-2 Edited to add: if your rifle receiver is cut for dovetail scope rings, make sure you get a pair of rings that has one of the rings with the protruding pin that fits in the top receiver hole. That hole on top of the receiver and the ring pin that gets into the hole are designed to prevent the scope and rings to slide forward because of the recoil.

I have a Winchester / Daisy air rifle scope that has been on a couple different guns.
It's held up well. But to make one click of adjustment you usually have to move three clicks one way and then come back two clicks. Once I get it set I leave it alone and use kentucky windage if needed.

Well I got the UTG 3x9 scope a week or so ago
Finely had time today to dial it in Have a backyard set-up spot with a small table under a lemon tree The 2x3 backstop is 20 yards away 2 layers of drywall then 1/2 osb/ chipboard Very pleased with the scope only took about 12 shots and I was tapping the center circle

Excellent choice. The UTG 3x9 https://amzn.to/33kszjV was also my choice because you can adjust parallax focus down to 5yrds which many scopes don't go that low. If you want to practice shoot in your garage or small backyard, this is an often overlooked feature.

Sign up with these guys.
Goods deals come up. Even though your Benjamin is a NP...I still would recommend a Springer rated scope. UTG makes good scopes for the NPs

How does your UTG scope holding up?
I am looking to get one. The cheap scope that came with my Benjamin Trail NP XL was destroyed and not holding zero any more; got a little over 200 rounds with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How much are you looking to spend? Simmons makes a decent scope for $50. Entry level. You’ll need different ring mounts for a weaver/pic rail tho. I also have the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6X. I really like that.

Less than $200 is what I have mind, don’t want to go crazy expensive. Is Vortex NP/Springer rated? I was looking at Hawke but the ones rated for air rifle are over the budget. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
