Default Is it normal for an iron sight to lose zero by tapping it?

https://v.redd.it/6603upmhuqq51

So I bought these:

https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com...p/mi-cbuis.htm

The first one would lose zero moving the AR to its bag and vice versa. I called them and they were nice enough to send me a replacement. However the replacement does the same thing. Here's a few pictures of what is going on.

https://i.redd.it/33satarf1sp51.gif

I am really at a loss here IDK how many MOA it loses but the lines in the pictures are exactly 1mm apart. The windage shifts for 1/2 of those lines, so a half a mm.

So, it's sliding around like that on the screw? No bueno, my man. That kind of movement is huge MOA downrange.

The replacement is like this as well. The first picture is of me just tapping it on the palm of my hands and it lost IDK how many MOA/MIL but over half a mm of travel.

Not sure if serious post? No! That’s not acceptable.

It’s probably the product and time for a return. It’s a bit annoying to pay double but how about Troy sights?

Probably just going to return them and get the Daniel Defense fixed rear sights. I should have gotten them since the beginning but I wanted to save a few Oz and $5.

Looks like some kind of set screw holds in the windage adjuster. I would have thought some kind of spring tension (perhaps the detent) would keep it indexed to one side. It's definitely sticking.

I have allen/torx wrenches set for both standard and metric, nothing fits the set screw. I think I rather just return it instead of damaging it trying to get the set screw out.

Ended up buying the DD, they are perfect. As someone with astigmatism the DD rear with Truglo Tritium front is the best I will be able to get.

I'm not surprised that Midwest Industries had a defective sight since that happens to every company. However I am surprised that they also sent you a defective replacement sight. They need to get their QC in check.

Tom, have you considered using a 1x prism?

Iím trying out the primary arms 1x prism that has an etched and illuminated reticle instead of irons

Try and EOTech holographic sight maybe too. Astigmatism is usually not so detrimental if you're using an holo sight.

Exclamation

I've had M-I folding BUIS with no problems, but that's serious QC issues on their part. Contact them about a refund/replacement!

I might try that, someone recommended a 1.5 ACOG but I will need to see them in person.

I had an XPS2 which I returned, it was on sale and red. People have said the green one is much better for me.

So far right now on my day off I will drive around Fresno looking for an ACOG to look through.

If you're older, ACOG may not be right for you as they have a fixed diopter. They are made for 18 year old eyes.

Last resort would be going back to a LPVO which I feel is very cumbersome and heavy.

yup, nothing loose on Troy's or Knight's Armament. I've also been happy with ultra dyne (you don't hear about them much around here).

If youíre set on fixed magnification, some of the Primary Arms prisms have a diopter.

I believe you are referring to TA44. Not sure if you care about pricing but itís $849 for the circle and dot and $899 for one with acss reticle.

Itís nice, I have looked through it, but itís pricey enough that I am trying to see if the PA 1x prism (also with ACSS) for $240 will work for me instead before I go to ta44

I have an eotech 512 as well and find when I donít turn the brightness up, it looks good. If I really up there brightness, itís no bueno
