Schumer may have let this go to a vote to save himself from an AOC primary challenge. The Dems probably know a historic defeat is on the way and were looking to this as a last resort.

I agree with one exception. Voter ID is not overwhelmingly unpopular. There are surveys you can find on this very question. They show that it is just the opposite: Voter ID is very popular. So popular, in fact, that Repubs could run on the issue.

Let's look at another angle. Liberals now want illegals to vote in U.S. elections. If you go online and look at how to register to vote in California, you'll discover that you are not required to present any evidence of your citizenship. You merely self-declare that you are a U.S. citizen. This allows liberals to claim that there is "no evidence" that illegals are voting. Of course! That's because California doesn't collect any evidence that illegals are voting!

Whether or not illegals are allowed to vote in state or local elections, it is still a felony under federal law for them to vote in federal elections. In fact, it is a deportable offense upon conviction.

Yet, a great many "deportable offenses" are simply ignored in Dem states. As are Federal Laws for implementing "Sanctuary Laws".
