Default Can a LEO legally build an AR pistol?

Was thinking about DROS’ing an AR lower as a pistol and then building a maglocked AR pistol? As far as my research tells me, there’s nothing illegal about it as long as the firearm complies with AW and NFA laws and it only uses 10 round mags?

In the free states, virgin lower receiver can be built into Rifle or pistol. By any law abiding person. Just as long as you comply with the NFA. In Ca the average person is not exempt from the roster, making it difficult to purchase an Ar15 pistol. A LEO can dros a virgin lower as a pistol, but must comply with the NFA and Ca AW laws. If I’m wrong please chime in.

LEO-only AR pistol receivers are forged from cans picked up by citizens.

You absolutely can dros as a exempt semi-auto handgun. The hardest part is finding a FFL that is willing to do this for you.

Yes, we do it all the time. I just sold a cz scorpion micro and mp5k to leos, just required maglocks. You should be able to do this no problem

Ammo Bros. was willing to DROS a lower to me as a pistol. I ended up building it using a Franklin Armory DFM magazine to make it fixed and I load it using a Bear Flag Defense BF-10. Not the ideal set up, but it’s a range toy. It’s not an assault weapon so no registration and less restrictions on transport, use, etc.

Can you put a LAW tactical folder and a brace on it?

I think it would work physically, but I don’t think the gun can fire with the LAW Tactical folder folded.

I didn’t feel comfortable with pushing things with the various braces that are available. I just have a plain pistol buffer tube with a foam cover on it. Even though it’s chambered in .300 BLK, I seem to get good stability with a single point sling and a cheek weld on the tube.

When I retire and finally get out of this godforsaken state, I’ll probably File a Form 1 to make it a SBR and put a stock on it, but I’ve still got another 22 1/2 years to go until then. Oh well, something to look forward to.
