Battle Arms holds the patent on this device having filed last summer. Our version is available on both new production lowers and we can retrofit it to all of your AR's.

We have held up our release allowing time for Ca DOJ to publish its enforcement recommendations on the new laws.

"and we can retrofit it to all of your AR's"

But naturally, so can any user self install, correct? No lower mod is needed.

A small hole must be drilled and tapped into the lower receiver for it work.

Will the 180 rear takedown pin be available as its own product and if so when?

The rear pin will be available as a stand alone part. It should be available next month.

I tried placing an order, and then I asked if it came with a manual. Next thing I know, I was transferred to someone else and was told I can't order it yet.

Possible expansion of product line? Fingers crossed as I do not want to register anything, featureless is butt ugly and I would still like to be able to shoot legally purchased firearms.

To my understanding, this is a service and not a kit as many of us had hoped.

Oh that's a drag. I thought I had read that it only required drilling and tapping a single hole. I've got several lowers milled from 80% I need to outfit so it didn't sound daunting at all.

You are correct sir. I called and spoke to Tyler at BAD who was very helpful. As of now it is a service they offer, didn't inquire as to the future availability of kits.

Rear takedown pin should be available shortly to my understanding.

Well, that's a buzzkill. Hopefully a kit will be available soon. I'm in for five of them.

Agreed. Though I don't have the tools and skills necessary to perform the mod, I would have much preferred purchasing a kit and having someone local do it for me rather than having to send it out.

I'm pretty sure it's a case of covering their behinds, but the reason for the delay is they're waiting to see if their solution will meet CA DOJ's requirements for fixed magazine.

That's understandable. For the record I didn't intend to disparage BAD or the product. It's definitely the best option IMHO. I hope the kit comes to market.

Aren't they moving to a new location? But that shouldn't effect anything, they are just a "E" store, no retail outlet or in house manufacturing. Although with the new machines they are probably trying to fix that.

Which mag locking system are you going to use in conjunction with the take down pin?

Doesn't work with AR Maglock. The AR Maglock is thicker than the opening in the "partial open" configuration.

AR Maglock, modifications are complete and works like Battle Arms concept but no modifications to lower. I used a dremel and file to take enough off AR Maglock to just fit in between upper and lower. Works awesome!
