Medium term firearms storage (10 years)
What?s a ?good enough? storage scheme for an AR type rifle these days?
I was thinking about stashing a couple in the basement. A an airtight Mylar dry bag+zerust tube in the barrel+zerust packet in the bag?+oil or grease in the barrel? Anything else I should do? What is the oil that guns come in when you buy them new? Is that as good as cosmoline? What is a modern superior coating that works better than old cosmoline?

Use a non corrosive oil.
I use Hoppes gun oil on my older guns that i dont shoot much. Hoppes has a rust preventive additive. And the rifles are in a silicone gun sock. A airtight bag and dissicant should work.

Poly Bags work great. I add Inhbitor VCI chips just to be sure. I have guns stored longer than 10 years and they are just fine.
