Running out of room in the safe is the main reason for me. I've always had a couple handguns, just adding a few more.

I started with handguns, went to rifles around 1991/92 (Bushmaster AR 15 - had 8-30 and 3-40 rounds magazines back then and a Ruger M77 bolt action 30.06), and came back to handguns.

I came back to handguns because they are more portable and convenient, and there are more shooting ranges than for rifles (in the Bay Area at least).
