Default Favorite CCW handgun

What is the year favorite CCW in Handgun on your permit? And why is that. I am interested to know because there?s a lot of variations out there and a lot of people with a lot of different stuff.

For an on-roster pistol, I carry the G26 most.

I’m stuck on my G43. It just fits well and the more I practice the better I’m getting with it.

My EDC has evolved over the last 40+ years. First was a S&W Model 28, a 6" N-framed .357. Huge gun, but in a Bianchi shoulder under a properly tailored sport coat it would disappear. Helped that I'm 6'3.
Next was a S&W Model 66 with the 2.125 barrel, in a bottom-draw shoulder holster. With Magnum loads, the muzzle blast was impressive.
Then, for the better part of two decades, a 1911 in 45acp.
After back surgery, a Shield in summer and a G26 in winter.
After retirement, it's usually a G19 in a Crossbreed SuperTuck. I've lost 75 lbs in the last year, so the bulk doesn't bother me - and I bought 15 rd mags during Freedom Week.
I find the Shield to be the smallest pistol that I can shoot comfortably. Everything smaller than that is too small for my paws. The G26 is an incredible gun, and I shoot mine very well, but the G19 carries five more rounds in factory configuration - thanks to Saint Benitez. For me, at this time and place, the G19 is the best choice.

In my career, I carry a G17 for almost 30 years. Gen2/3/4/5. On my own time , I carry G19. I have no reason to change anything. My VERY close second is my Gen3 Glock 26. EXCELLENT CCW pistol.

^^^^ This guy has to be about my age. My first CCW issued 1983. My first was the Ruger security six 4", then came the Ruger P-89T. Added a S&W stubby later. Glock came and it's still one of my CCW along with the 3" Springfield XD-9.

You'll get limited answers here. For one thing, not many people here have CCW permits, despite recent changes. Secondly ... what are the choices for on-roster guns?

What I have that I could carry would be;
Glock 43, M&P Shield as small carries
Glock 26 as small fat carry
Glock 19, Glock 30S as small enough to carry, but I can actually hit the side of a barn.

If I had a permit.

Sac County allows 3.

Pocket, sub compact and compact.

Lot of different options. Shield is a popular one.

None on my permit are on-roster.

Mostly carry G26.4 or G19.4. Have a little LCP for gym shorts or discreet carry

G26 most of time last 8 years. G17 sometimes winter or playing in mountains. Bersa Storm for those shorts and tank top 110 degree days. This renewal took off the g43.

G26, reliable, 10 rounds, easy for me to carry, shoot, and I am accurate with it. If and when the law allows, it will take a G19 magazine and remain concealable.

G19.

It’s smaller than the 17 and XD9 SVC, and it’s black… my 17 and XD are OD, and while I have carried them, I tend to baby them more. It’s nice to have options though.

Glock 26 has been my IWB for many many years. Pocket was my Kahr p380 which has now been replaced by my Sig P365, which cost me more than I wanted but I don’t regret it. Holstered OWB, I use a Glock 19 w/TLR-8AG. The P365 quickly earned its place in my EDC no matter what I’m wearing. Any of these 3 9mm you can’t go wrong with.

P229 .40 I bought 30 years ago. I shoot well with it, no CA BS on it. It's the most gun I can carry comfortably.

My favorite EDC now is Sig P365XL. Also like HK VP9 and Sig P229.

Im all over the spectrum, as far as CCW only guns. I have three on my list. S&W 340PD, S&W Shield 9, and a Les Baer Custom Carry 1911. The shield being the newest addition of the three seems to get the most use. Im even considering a pocket holster for it now. 9mm vs 38/357 vs 45, I have no favorites here.

J-Frame 60-7

Easy to conceal in office attire compared to others in the stable. Consider it my bare minimum anywhere when not using a full rig or needing more capacity (T1C Agis Elite w/ a G19). Need to shop for the more lightweight 442 model since you do feel it when pocket or ankle carry. Just got too many other projects to work on

The most common carried on my permit is my Sig P365.
Close second would be my Sig P238 when I need something smaller.

Neither are especially fun to shoot, but they are small, light and they carry well.

Whenever I carry out of state, it's either an M&P Shield or Ruger LCR.

If staying on roster is essential, then a Glock G26 is a fine compromise. I carried one for years.

If willing to spend the off-roster premium, (in the long run ammo costs more) the SIG P365 is very hard to beat!

I carry mine 95% of the time, maybe more.

https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/...sig-sauer-p365

For pocket carry, a Kahr P380, is on roster and, after some initial issues, has proven perfectly dependable.

Smaller, thinner, lighter than the P238 it replaced.
