I'm seriously looking at an M&P 9 as my next purchase . . . And if things keep going the way they are, I could be able to pick up an L or "Pro" through inter-familial transfer . . .
The only difference between the two appears to be the "Pro" has a fiber optic front sight.
Are their any other differences I can't determine from looking at the S&W website?

New 45c. Can't wait to take it out to the range. It's very comfortable and just the right size for a compact .45.

Pick up my m&p 45 next week. Anyone have a recommendation for night sights? I've only found trijicon and meprolight.

Thumbs up

Hi guys, lately I been looking at a few Sub-com/9mm and S&W MP 9 looks pretty good. This afternoon I went to Martin Retting's to actually checked it out. Very nice gun indeed, especially for a southpaws like myself. I think it's between MP9's C and XD Sub.9
If anyone's here has comments regarding these fine pistols I could use some more feedbacks if possible. Thanks in advance.

It's simple, M&P is ready for Prime time like Glock yet a little more ergonomic then Glocks. I wouldn't even consider the XD series personally.

My M&P9c trully makes me happy, def. my favorite compact at the moment IMO I would stick with the M&Pc or G26 but as always you should rent and compare yourself to make the decision.

are you the one who did a special order of the two-tone M&P9 (pro) via Valkyrie arms? how did they procure it... via Cabela's? that thing looks great!

i was pondering trying to get one of those while they still exist (limited run back in 2009).

if you don't mind saying... how much OTD was it?

i believe that is the limited "cabela's exclusive" run of two-tone stainless slide M&P9 pistols from 2009. remember, the M&P is stainless steel under that black finish.

Same as mine
(which I think is damn awesome if it's limited run)

Smarter PM'ed me that the production date (test fire) on his pistol is 5/2010, so that doesn't jive with the 2009 Cabela's run. Not sure what the backstory is with the bi-tone guns that VA got. I might have to procure one as a subject for further study...

I was joking with him that we should have a SFBA M&P convention at a local range sometime. Hah! I want to test out an Apex-equipped M&P at some point too....

Just because this is a picture thread, I'll add some more... Here's my M&P9 modeling different Streamlights (TLR-1s and TLR-3):

For what it's worth, I just installed my RAM a few moments ago. Not quiet enough to be considered "Apex-equipped", but man...it makes a huge difference. Maybe if we get this SFBA M&P convention rolling, you can test drive if you're looking into one.

M&P40 Pro with 5" slide is not of the CA Roster. That doesn't mean you can't get one, you just have to find a store that will do a single shot conversion for you. If you're in the Bay Area, Valkyrie Arms will do this. I have a 9 Pro with 5" slide, and it's the same deal...not on the roster. Valkyrie did the single shot conversion on it, and I was good to go.

Just for fun, this is what my 9 Pro looked like in "single shot" state:

Fixed mag and threaded barrel with extension to meet overall length requirements.

Also, if you find a 40 Pro for sale by private party, there is nothing stopping you from purchasing that. Roster is not applicable to private party sales.

I think I may have found my next purchase. I have held them at Valkyrie Arms and I love the feel almost as much as my xdm9. I have to try and fire one.

Here's my addition to the group... just got her out of jail today.

Currently working on the trigger to reduce the weight and grittiness... got it down to about 5-ish pounds now... I definitely like it better this way

The M&P 9mm FS is my current duty gun, personally bought to replace my aging 92FS. The M&P has run flawless for about 1000 rounds and carries well with a TLR-1.

IMHO the best handgun on the market for the price.

my off roster m&p 9. crappy iphone pic since i'm waiting for a charger for my D40. (don't order $8 chargers from ebay, they don't work)
FFL ordered CA-legal SKU 90201 and were sent non-mag safety SKU 90301. converted it to a single shot in about 5 minutes. I'd rather have had one w/o mag safety so it worked out in my favor although if i would have known the single shot exemption was so easy, i'd probably have ordered a 9L. oh well.
