Default Damn Rockefeller at my gun range

One of the guys I shoot with is really wealthy. He's even got a Singer 1911, but this was off the hook.

A factory engraved Colt Woodsman with dead elephant stocks. Absolutely stunning !!

That’s a beauty! Did he bring it inside an original wood case also? Only one life given and no respawning, live it up to your financial ability.

I once set up at the Angeles range next to a guy with a collection of 12-15 gorgeous rifles decked out with the finest glass. Probably $30-40K worth of gear. I joked with him that his wife must be furious over the dough he'd spent. He laughed and admitted this was his "mid-life" fun, but that the entire collection was still much, much cheaper than buying a Porsche.

I'm not much into fancy engravings, either, but this one looks nice to me. Probably because I really like the old Colt Woodsman's.
However, the Singer would generate the most interest to me.

Very cool and I think the best part is that he probably shoots it, rather than making it just a safe queen.

They don't make them like that anymore...

And they never will again.

I have a friend with a Singer. It was his fathers during WWII.

It does appear to have a manufactured look to it. Certainly doesn’t tell a “story” so to speak.

But I appreciate what it is from Colt.

Yup, that’s quite a piece of unobtainium…the grips themselves are probably in the thousands…

Why don't they just put those flower pictures in the mold so they can all look that nice if everyone likes it so much?

Would that qualify as a C&R? Due to its uniqueness?

My question is: how did the Rockefeller shoot? It reminds me of an experience decades ago at the trap range. Rockefeller had a beautiful Italian trap gun and every gadget from any catelog on his gun and person. Probably cost him $20,000 or more to outfit himself. He was a pretty good shooter. I was stationed to his left with my $199 Remington 870 and an old pheasant vest. I was shooting pretty well that day and didn't miss. He lost his concentration and started missing. He even tried to shoot my clay pigeon twice. He was apologetic, but his disgusted expression gave me more joy than hitting all 25 and 73 out of 75.
