I guess it was just opened .. It looks like it's loaded with fake science and fake statistics to support gun control.

Cupp v. Bonta (Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Case No. 21-16809). The plaintiff challenges several of California’s firearms laws including the Law Enforcement Release Program, which applies to individuals seeking return of firearms seized by law enforcement, and California’s prohibition of exotic weapons such as “slung shots” (which are distinct from sling shots). After Bruen was decided in June 2022, the Ninth Circuit granted the parties’ request to remand the case back to the federal district court. The Attorney General continues to defend the validity of the law after Bruen.
I have no idea what "slung shots" are.

The Dem/Lib approach is to say it three times, louder each time, at which time it becomes a truth.

A new Office of Gun Violence Prevention + Voters are confident in California elections

Quote:
...Though California has some of the nation’s strongest gun control laws, and also among the nation’s fewest gun deaths, in 2020 more than 3,400 Californians died from gun violence, according to Giffords Law Center Managing Director Laura Cutilletta. “California requires more coordinated expert leadership and a statewide resource dedicated to breaking down silos across different agencies and borders, cutting through red tape, and helping communities implement new resources to stop gun violence,” Cutilletta said in a statement.

Establishing an Office of Gun Violence Prevention appears to be a family project for the Bontas.

The attorney general’s wife, Assemblywoman Mia Bonta, D-Alameda, had introduced AB 2253, a bill that would have created such an office; that bill died in suspense...
The Bontas get their office

Quote:
...How did the attorney general set up a new office inside his department without the new funding in his wife’s bill? At the moment, it’s only an office on paper with enough funding for a single employee, the director. They’re accepting applications...
Well, if it keeps his wife happy... After all, it's only taxpayer money and Constitutional rights. I mean, happy wife, happy life... Right?

these lying phlegmocrat gun-grabbers know that keeping dangerous felons locked up and
securing the border (bad hombres) would reduce gun crime as well; they'd lose "votes"

The Office of Pre-Conceived Notions

Fortunately it will be balanced...

Quote:
-Improving the public’s understanding of gun violence—collecting stories from impacted communities on firearm suicide, community violence, and domestic violence and encouraging media coverage and discussion about the full scope of gun violence.
-Researching and writing about individual and environmental factors that contribute to firearm homicide and suicide.
-Assessing current evidence on the prevention of firearm suicide.
-Trainings on firearms removal in gun violence restraining orders (GVROs) and domestic violence restraining orders (DVROs).
-GVRO and DVRO relinquishment education and training of judges, court professionals, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and probation officers.
-Producing reports detailing the costs of gun violence in specific California cities and the cost-savings on taxpayers and community resources that can be obtained by redistributing resources to prevention work rather than punitive systems.
-Production of a comprehensive report detailing the statistics of Latino homicide and suicide in California, and the role played by firearms.
-Publication of reports on the intersection between gun violence and the LGBTQ community.
-Project-funding providing clinical tools via video episodes for firearm injury prevention: teaching medical and mental health care providers how to reduce the risk of firearm injury in patients.
-Community emergency response toolkit and plan for use by counties to be able to respond to shootings and suicides within the community.
-Educational fund to stop gun violence via https://preventfirearmsuicide.efsgv.org/.
-Sharing best practices, building statewide capacity, and amplifying relevant research through co-facilitating with criminal justice reform leaders, community advocates focused on community-based strategies, and faith-based non-profit community organizers.

Because the office of criminal violence prevention and countering thug culture would make some kind of sense.

How do they calculate this?

Californians who live with handgun owners are more than twice as likely to die of homicide.

It's "scientific" research, which isn't likely worth much.

https://www.acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/M21-3762

Maybe other's have insight into the research, but they claim the know people who own guns in California , but I don't see how they can know that. The California registry is wildly incomplete, and I'm assuming that's where they're getting the information.

It the same problem that the original study on this had, they can't tell who killed the person and what gun killed the person. So they just assume that the gun in the house killed the person, and the man in the house killed the women.

They will probably get their fake statistics from the UC Davis "research center" which equates to an invasion of privacy.

They use a lot of "big sounding words" to make themselves sound smart.

Also gives it away that these folks are members of the rootless cosmopolitan and professional managerial class as well.

Default Pet Rocks can answer all your questions.

All you need to know about this is to remember how pet rocks got it's start in California.

While they originated in Mexico, they became a commercial success in where else but San Francisco, Ca. California led the way.

Whenever you wonder why things are the way they are, go no further than pet rocks.

I started laughing when the page talked about how the gun murder rate in Wyoming was three times that of California. For the year I checked, the total murder rate in Wyoming was slightly lower than that of California. When you have to lie like that, you've sunk to a rather low level on the integrity scale.

Something far more enlightening would be to discover how many people are the “victims” of shootings in CA vs just how many die. The number would be much higher…

From the report..."We obtained records of the 9.1 million handgun and long gun transfers recorded in the DROS database over a 32-year period (1 January 1985 through 31 December 2016)."

After the recent "oops" about CCW information release, I'm not surprised at the above statement. So much for privacy.

They're mixing the suicide rate in with homicides .. Wyoming does have a suicide problem, and California doesn't not. It has nothing to do with guns.

If Joe Gangbanger dies from getting run over by a rival gang member, but Joe owns a stolen gun, that counts as someone who died of homicide who also owned a gun.
