Default Places You ..... Would Not Carry

We all know of the legal places that you should Not .... Carry

Post Office ,,, Court ,,, Federal building
But , what about other places you visit

Say , you have to go to a police station on business,,,,,
Relatives birthday party for the 2 year old

Others ????

I don't carry to the listed prohibited places on my permit, gym, doctor's visits, beach, work place (it stays in the car), I don't carry in bars or if I plan to have drinks at a restaurant. I'll go ahead and list some of the places I do carry: church, dinner, around town, (2) permit guns on long trips in the car, walking around the neighborhood, grocery store, general errands, auto parts store, general daily activities.

Same as I.

Also, whenever I’m working on the car, especially underneath, I’d opt to leave it at home or in the console.

If the casino is on sovereign Indian land, you are in a foreign nation, not California. They don't much cater to local government approvals like CCWs.

While technically correct Dvrjon, if you get exposed as concealed carry they usually ask you to leave and if you don't then they call the local police. Not from personal experience but several peoples experiences here and also it was asked at Artemis a few years back on the pre ccw class

PL-280 says that CA State Law applies everywhere on CA Tribal Land.

Per Quiet’s post back in 2019,

Quote:
CA is a Public Law 280 State, which means the CA Penal Code is enforced on Tribal lands located in CA.

As long as there are no restrictions printed on your CA LTC permit that would prohibit you from being in a gaming facility or establishment that sells alcohol for consumption, then under CA laws you can legally carry there.

However, since it is private property, if they discover you carrying, they can ask you to leave the property and failing to do so, can result in a trespassing arrest/citation and/or notification to your issuing agency.

Probably second to the Post Office on the "Oh ****, I forgot I was carrying" list is Ranger stations. YMMV

It’s all about your behavior.

Wandering the strip in Vegas, have a beer and enjoy the views.... no CCW

I use to scuba with a group of LEO at the breakwater in Monterey

Dry suits all carried while diving. Wet suit divers disarmed.

Walking around Napa-probably going to be armed.

Dinner out - wine and Uber - disarmed.

Don’t overthink it

That’s probably when you want it. Have you seen some of the lovely people out on the strip?

Plus, in NV, one can drink while CCW-ing. CA CCW won’t even come into play as NV doesn’t honor it.

Police Stations - no
Casinos - yes but be wary of Tribal land
Vegas strip while drinking - yes, just stay under .08 and have a permit that is recognized (like AZ)
Dr / Dentist Office - usually no, just because they may be working close to me and leaning on me or grabbing me
Massage parlor - oh behave!

I would carry everywhere allowed by law.

My sister is the black sheep Liberal of the family and hates guns. I carry every time I go into her house. She has no clue.

This is true as long as you are below .01. Anything more than that is a felony, however, it is a really bad idea to CCW while drinking. Legal or not if you ever need to use your weapon and you are drinking you can be sure that will be a factor in any pending criminal or civil issues. Be responsible and don't drink alcohol in any amount while carrying. Legal or not alcohol and guns do not mix!!!

Would not be without it on the strip theses days. The scum to normal person ratio is skewed to about 70/30 in favor of the scum.

My wife gives me side eye when I carry “just to go to dinner” but asked if I was carrying when we were walking the strip. Was very happy when I gave her side eye.

FIFY.

Check your laws and penalties.
Quote:
NRS 202.257 is the Nevada gun law prohibiting carrying or handling firearms while drunk or high or with a blood alcohol concentration of at least 0.08%. A Nevada misdemeanor, possessing guns while under the influence of alcohol or drugs carries up to six months in jail and/or up to $1,000 in fines.
While I agree one shouldn’t be drinking and carrying, it is not prohibited like in other states. YMMV

I don't carry when I am not legally allowed or going through metal detectors.

Dr/chiro - I carry in a backpack that doesn't leave my sight.

Vegas - EVERYWHERE. I'll drink in my room but I'm not going anywhere in that town unarmed. Too many idiots that think they can get away with anything.

Kids bday party - YES. How would you feel if there was an incident that you could prevented or limited if you'd been carrying?

Famous last words: "Oh I'm just running up to the market. I'll only be gone 10 minutes. I don't need to carry." That's when Murphy strikes!

Make it a habit to carry everywhere and then only worry about where you can't carry.

I used to carry to my doctor appointments at Kaiser until my last renewal. I'm in San Barnardino Co and in their new training video they bring up Kaiser specifically. There was a nurse on duty that was from OC and had an OC permit. She had her weapon with her and another employee saw it or was somehow made aware of it. The other employee called Kaiser Security which in turn called the San Bernardino Co Sheriffs.

The nurse was detained by the security until SBSD got there. The Kaiser Security department informed the deputy that Kaiser had a no weapon on Kaiser property rule and asked them to escort the FORMER Kaiser employee off their property.

In the training video they made comment that Kaiser doesn't even want you to leave it in your vehicle on their property. They recommend parking off site and leaving your weapon in the car or just not to bring it to your Kaiser appointment.

If I'm to have any interaction with a Kaiser employee I won't have my weapon with me.

I had that moment a couple of years ago. I was at a "State" not "Federal" park. I walked up to the door and didn't see anything about no firearms. Went in walked around and left out a different door. On the way out I could see the no firearms sticker on that window.

I won't make that mistake again.

Signage expressing this policy has been applied to every entrance to those properties.

This policy also applies to persons with valid conceal carry permits and to off-duty LEOs.

Violating this policy will result in being banned from the property and can result in being contacted by the Riverside County Sheriff Department for a trespassing arrest/citation and/or arrest for other weapons violations.

This policy came about because:
#1. The person who came up with the policy is an anti-gun authoritarian and the casino lawyers think it will help prevent #2.
#2. Over the last two years, there have been numerous incidents in which a CCW permit holder or an off-duty LEO had an issue involving their sidearms and Morongo employees.

The most common incident is the permit holder or off-duty LEO leaving their handgun in their room after checking out or leaving their handgun in one of the casino restrooms.

Along with states have other restrictions. For example while we're a Constitutional carry state, unless you have an Arizona Concealed Carry Permit there are other restrictions that apply.

The completion of getting the actual permit opens up other areas that normally would be frowned upon without the permit.

Correct. Such as AZ with liquor establishments and Federal GFSZ.

For NV, one can only CC with a valid permit recognized by NV.

And, from Quiet in Aug 2020 (and I’m done with “Dueling Quiets”).

Since this has been necrothreaded, I might as well post an update.

It is the official policy of the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa and Casino Morongo to prohibit the possession of weapons on property.
^No firearms and no melee weapons (knife, etc).

No contridictions with either of my quotes.

The first is still true.

The second is an update to the policies of the Morongo Public Safety Department.
^Which are also being applied to off-duty LEOs.

No laws/regulations have changed, the only change is the policies of the public safety department located on the Morongo Indian Reservation.

If I. Was a gambling man, I wouldn’t gamble there.

IMO the reservation is a sovereign nation. Their nation; Their rules.

FIFY.

Check your laws and penalties.

While I agree one shouldn’t be drinking and carrying, it is not prohibited like in other states. YMMV
NV laws were changed in 2019.
The BAC limit was reduced from 0.10 to 0.08.
