I doubt your arithmetic. A new BMW 3 series cost about $25k back then. By your arithmetic a new 3 series should cost 85 to 90 grand.

If a manufacturer could pin on a fake suppressor and turn it into a rifle then it could doable for Ca. I'm not a fan of those long skinny barrels, like the 3-lug look better.

The retail price will drop somewhat in the rest of the country as HK’s production increases and demand eases off the first half of next year. I predict a slow drop in street prices until summer time, then a climb into November as gun-banning rhetoric from Bloomberg winds up into the election.

I'm in the same boat, If I had to go the 16 inch barrel route, I would want to put something like the MFI fake suppressor over the long skinny barrel but dont think the tri lug at the end of the skinny barrel would allow that. I think a pin and welded fake can would be the best option.

TitleII Arms also makes a nice 3-lug barrel extension for them.

Yeah, you can buy private-party transfer...Franklin Armory and MagLatch make fixed mag kits for this platform...

Atlantic Firearms has a sold out listing for factory HK pistols. They were $2,499.

People are crashing the HK website because it can’t handle the amount of traffic these are causing.

In addition to above link

Some folks at HKPRO are upset that the thread pitch on the barrel has changed from 1/2x32 to 1/2X28, even though the latter is way more popular in 9mm cans. Also the ones with sears are upset the SP5 kind of blocks their use of them.
But I like what I see so far, the video is a great help. Enough so that I canceled my wait listed Zenith Z5-P

I’d love to own one of these, but is it fair to say this is more of a nostalgia item than a grab at the current market share of SBR tactical entry type weapons?

A lot of agencies use these because they work and were purchased decades ago. But is there a compelling reason to reinvest in this platform now?

I remember when the sp89 was new MSRP was either $1,200 or $1,300.

Wish I bought one since they sell for over $4k now..... but I guess with these new imports.... no one will pay $4k for a 30 yr old sp89 anymore...

Just my opinion; I have a CZ Scorpion EVO3 Micro and it is great, a really fun thing to shoot. But after shooting a Zenith, I've come to love the delayed-roller blowback system of the MP5 platform, a softer shooting firearm. It is one those fun guns to add to the quiver. With a brace, it becomes an interesting player in the 9mm carbine scene.

Wonder why not use the 3-lug? Direct thread adapters are not cost prohibitive either and almost anything is available in 1/2 x 28. Are there dedicated cans with 1/2 x 32 threads?

For me as long as Franklin Armory's binary trigger works, I'm happy. I won't invest in an HK sear.

I was looking at the APC9 before buying my Scorpion EVO3 Micro. Great gun, well finished, but still a direct blowback system similar to the CZ. Couldn't justify the $2300 price on it. Rather spend it on an HK for the fun factor.

Don't those only work in S E F lowers? The new HK's come with a Navy-type lower I thought.

I don't know , I was under the impression a 3-lug wouldn't spin itself loose.

That little GHM (not an APC) is only $1400.
It is direct blowback but I have no problem with simplicity.
I have a couple delayed roller rifles, and they don’t impress me any more than the UMP or the GHM.
Rock solid reliable is paramount, and that, they are.

I agree, I like MP5s, but couldn’t bear it being a rifle, and they are way heavy for a pistol.
This little GHM is smaller than any model but the k and is so well machined it makes me smile - those Swiss, you know

Haha,
Btw, being a Scorpion owner, do you know the backstory of the GHM name?
😂

Yup. But the GHM is a known scorpion killer, which people speculate was the reason B&T picked the name.

I see a few HK MP5 haters in here. lol

My LGS had 5 and sold all 5 yesterday at MSRP. The other smaller one sold its version at $3k.

I want one for second kind of cool.

Its hard to justify spending another 2500-3000 on one of the HKs when I already spent a goodly sum on a clone but lucky for me california is here to help me avoid that decision.
Thanks for saving me (my wallet?) from myself...

I’m sorry, but I must have missed that. A recent ruling?

Could you provide me with a link, please?

There are still some guns that look better as an SBR than with the brace. The APC line and the AK, for instance.
