I received my FFL03 a couple weeks ago. This week I received another envelope with a list of firearms for C&R along with a note saying that the materials were backordered.

I got my packet yesterday with same notes.

There is a small recording pamphlet/book so if I do not plan on buying any firearms do I still need to buy a bound book?

So did you remove the Info Card before you sent? I saw someone talking about this somewhere here, but the most I got out of it was that one member puts his ID over the card.

I received a prompt reply telling me that once my application was pulled from "the bank," they would contact me for a new credit card number. The fact that they have a bank of applications tells me that they are experiencing something of a backlog right now. My application still has not made it out of the bank, as I have not yet been contacted for new payment information.
Update: I received a letter requesting payment by cashiers check or money order. I sent a money order to the listed address in West Virginia. I received my FFL 03 a week ago. Total time with the closed credit card account and request for a new method of payment was approximately 2-1/2 months. My first ammo shipment is scheduled to arrive at my door tomorrow.

it looks everyone is getting the licenses. California is just so screwed up on ammo online purchased ban. IMO, it sounds like those people just find a new way to generate profit for government funding.

My renewal was very similar to this. Checked cleared on 2/21 and renewal 03 came on 4/25.

I called last week and got an email LOA "Letter of Authorization", as I was getting worried. This allows you to use your old license if it expires while waiting on your new one.

They did tell me licenses have been taking longer than normal. Maybe a CA surge.

I had an 03 FFL about 5 years ago and let it expire.

Anyone know if that will speed up, slow down, or have no effect on the process of getting a new one?

how long it takes you guys to renew the COE?
I have filed renew since last week, but it is still in progress. I thought it was fast and it would be renewed in a couple days.

I hope you filed online. They no longer accept main in renewals.
Also you need to upload a pic of your DL for renewal. If not, it will stay in pending status.

My 03 was several months, and my COE was several days. I was very surprised at how fast CA moved, and not at all surprised at how miserably slow the ATF moved, considering their wait time to approve NFA stuff.

My renewal took about four or five weeks. In fact, I misplaced my original not too long ago and sent an email requesting a replacement. I had my replacement in hand in less than 2 weeks

I let my 03FFL expire, so I had to apply for a new one. I sent in the paperwork on Aug.12 and just today they cashed my check.

Wow. I sent in my paperwork ~10/25 and received my 03FFL today. I also paid by check but did not note when it was cashed.

I sent in my paperwork for a new license on 10/29 and received my license in the mail three weeks later. The time frames are all over the place.

The following is a timeline of my current effort in obtaining a COE and FFL03.

01/16/2020 filed online for COE and sent in FFL03 application.
01/21/2020 Received an email from DOJ requesting copy of license or passport, provided copy of my licence as I used that for my Livescan.
01/21/2020 ATF Cashed my check provided for payment of application fee
01/30/2020 Emailed DOJ to ask if anything else was needed for application as it had not changed from Processing Application status.
01/31/2020 Received an answer that all my info had been received and nothing else was needed.
02/10/2020 Received FFL03 in the mail, COE is still processing

Does anyone feel or believe I should reach out to DOJ or should I just continue to wait.

If it matters, I have no problems purchasing a firearm or ammo.

Be patient if there is a issue you get notified. You got the FFL very fast.

All you need to do is keep checking the DOJ website. I don't believe they notify you when it's approved (I could be wrong). And they let you print it out from the website.

Gentlemen, thank you. i checked the DOJ website today and there it was, my COE approval.

I have a follow up question. I use the Jr suffix in my name and all my documents reflect this. When viewing my application and profile info on the DOJ website, it shows my suffix. My COE however, was issued with just first and last name, no suffix. My FFL03 has the suffix, does anyone foresee an issue in attempting to using my newly acquired documents to use since the COE does not have the suffix in my name?

It may an issue. In my experience, usually they all need to match exactly.
I have had a few LGS staff check to verify it all matched. Some online vendors will tell you the COE and FFL information need to match. That includes name and address.

I decided to see if I could change my name on the COE. I emailed DOJ and they responded the following day with vague instructions on how to update the name. Once I deciphered the instructions and document provided, I edited my current COE, resubmitted it for approval along with a copy of my license and within 48 hours my COE name change was approved. My COE now displays my name correctly.

Here is the latest as of 4/2. I sent my live scan and app on 2/28. Missing DL so uploaded on 3/2. Sent an email on 3/24 asking if they needed anything else since the app was "in process". No reply. Sent another email on 3/30 asking if they needed anything to process my app. No reply. Called yesterday 4/2 and the message stated the avg processing time for a new COE is 30 days. However, because of the amount of calls they get, they are not going to provide any information regarding the status of an app until after 90 days.

Looks like I'll be waiting a little while longer. I submitted my COE on 3/12, got the DL missing email a couple days later and sent it over the same day. Looks like I'm tracking 10 days behind you.

I got my FFL almost 2 weeks ago. At least the Fed's have their act together.

Classic -- I got an email this morning saying my DL is not valid. It has been so long that it has expired during the time my app is in process. Rather than using THEIR systems to see that it renewed, I had to load it again. They better process it now, rather than have me wait another 4 weeks.

Bet you'll be waiting another 4 weeks they way they are handling these. I, too, got my FFL03 pretty quick, like 2 or 3 weeks. Hopefully I'll hear something about the COE next week then.

Sig, I fear you are going to be correct. It is typical government to make us do the same thing multiple times. I showed my ID to get the fingerprints. I load my ID with the app. The only ID I had at the time. They take so long that it expired. It is still good, it still shows it's me. They can look to see if it renewed, but no, they make me load it again. I think it is now just going back into the end of the line.
