Well............ I'm going to miss Richmond

This blows...............

Ironically, it will be a Range Qual weekend for my reserve unit.

Up side is this up's the chance I can participate as an Amateur with a G30 that should be in any day now, as well as a G21 that should come by September as for Reno, and Azusa. So I should be completely acclimated with them by then.

There are no "Masters"in Civilian/Guardian. There is nothing to make distinct. There are ZERO Masters in Civilian/Guardian.

Masters are not allowed to Participate in Civilian/Guardian.

Civilian/Guardian is the Jr. Varsity of GSSF. They are both Amateur Divisions.

"Civilian" really should be called "Amateur Stock" because Civilian isn't used to call out the other Division break outs, i.e. there is no Civilian Competition, Civilian Major Sub , Civilian Unlmitid, etc.....

If you look at the entry form it is referred to as Amateur Civilian and Amateur Gaurdian so like Snoopy said, there are no Masters in either one. Feel a bit more positive now?

I should also point out that even in the division's where there are Masters competing there are still 2 separate prize pools. Take Competition for example. We have an unusual situation where an Amatuer took 1st place so he will get a gun but the 2nd place guy is the first place Master so he gets a gun too. In Heavy metal due to the Share the Wealth rule 2nd may get the gun, the 1st Amatuer is in 7th but due to his AmCiv and Comp wins and 1 from a previous match he will probably get bumped to Master for HM so the 9th place guy becomes 1st Amatuer and gets a gun. I know it sounds confusion and this match is a little out of the norm with Keith taking 4 1st place Amatuer wins but it all works out in the end. Just keep shooting and you will get there too.

What I meant is there should be Master and Amateur categories in the Civilian division, which is strictly a personal opinion.

I am not sure I understand why. The equivalent divisions (AmCiv, and Guardian) for Masters to shoot a stock gun is Master Stock. Currently, the only time Amateurs and Masters (LEO or otherwise) shoot heads up is for Match Meister (winner of the whole match not including Major Sub, and Pocket GLOCK). Now, an Amatuer could should Master Stock and shoot against the Masters heads up if he/she so chooses.

There was a time when Amateurs and Masters shot heads up in Unlimited, but GSSF changed that a few years back and added prizes for Amatuers and Masters alike.

Maybe folks are not understanding the price pool eligibility and separation between Master and Amateur in a particular division. Even though the score sheets will list them together for overall ranking, there are separate price pools.

Perhaps.

Section 170.00 (page 17) of the GSSF Rules describes the divisions and break out.

Quote:
170.00 COMPETITOR DIVISIONS, CATEGORIES & CLASSES

170.10 GSSF offers the following competition divisions:
- Civilian (open to Amateur competitors only)
- Guardian (open to Amateur competitors only)
- Subcompact (open to both Amateur and Master competitors with separate
prizes for each)
- Competition (open to both Amateur and Master competitors with separate
prizes for each )
- Heavy Metal (open to both Amateur and Master competitors with separate
prizes for each)
- Major-Subcompact (open to both Amateur and Master competitors with
separate prizes for each)
- Unlimited (open to both Amateur and Master competitors with separate prizes
for each)
- Master-Stock (open to both Amateur and Master competitors with one set of
prizes for both)
- Pocket GLOCKs (open to both Amateur and Master competitors with separate
prizes for each
- GLOCK Girl Side Match (open to both Amateur and Master female
competitors with one set of prizes for both)

170.20 You may shoot any of the above divisions that you are eligible to compete in only once per match. If a competitor mistakenly enters one division twice and the error is not caught and corrected at the time, the competitor’s first entry in that division will stand. The second such entry will, at the sole option of GSSF, be reclassified to whatever other division is judged to be most suitable under the circumstances.
Match Results and Awards are broken out in Section 190.00 (page 21).

See.............

This is why I said (either here or on Glock Talk) that GSSF should take a little more effort with their published reporting.

All they would need to do is:
Additionally sort the results by *, THEN sort by time ascending.

Then all the placements and prizes would be grouped together more logically.

If GSSF wanted to go all the way with cleaner reporting they could get rid of Civilian all together and call it Stock. Then to ALL the DIVISIONS add the word Master or Amateur to it. USE THAT full name division as the report header for a NEW PAGE.

That would separate it too and they wouldn't have to sort on *

The one thing that is not clearly shown in the reporting is that there are no special categories for Masters. No Guardians, No Juniors, no Challenged, no Seniors.

Once you are a Master the gravy train is over.

So once you get to Master you give up a Division of Civilian or Guardian. Not the end of the world. I wonder how I'm going to fair when I get to shooting SIX divisions next GSSF match. I might be better off shooting them between BOTH days.

I suppose I would like a Master Guardian division, but I suspect there wouldn't be near the 10 needed to win a prize gun, and it would detract from those few Masters already who need the numbers to even get to 10 at all.

That also implies Master Guardians as well, right?

I'm sure they are out there. Going through Amateur Guardian is the easiest path to Master (as I'm finding out), and once they do go Master they are lost in the mix as to weather they are Guardian or not.

I'm guessing there are not more than 2 or 3 Master Guardians showing up anyway, and those that get to Master via only guardian wins are typically going to get crushed once they are Masters if all their wins were in the 70's and 80s (and some times 90s).

I believe one primary purpose of the current reporting is to provide results by overall performance irrespective of prize allocation. Prize allocation is secondary in the sort order. It allows for visibly displaying a competitors performance irrespective of their Amateur or Master ranking in a given division.

I heard from Mr. Valentine that they had not arrived either. I'll follow up with GSSF, and see what the hold up is. Sorry about the delay.

Two big matches that weekend, I'm sure they're busy, no rush on my part, just curious. Probably show up tomorrow, LOL.
