best bet is go to a gun shop and they will give you the info you need.

There are restrictions on open carry - both on loaded and unloaded. There are others here who are much better informed to give the lowdown to you. Contact a member named Pullnshoot - he can help you for sure. Turby |

NO! I've heard a lot of bad advise given out at gun shops! even the one I worked at for five years! The absolute best advise I can give you is to stick around here, read and learn. Figure out who's who and who really knows what they are talking about. Obviously, javabum is realtively new to this site and firearms in general or, he would know better than to blindly trust any gunshop. Then, read the actual laws for yourself and understand them. In the end, you are the one who will face any consequences for your actions not the people giving you advise. So please, completely understand what you are doing before you do it. In all seriousness, your gun is legally yours and does not have to be registered (assuming that you are not prohibited from owning a firearm and it is not an "unregistered California Assault Weapon). Until you learn the laws, I'd advise you to only transport it unloaded and in a lock container. DO NOT ATTEPT TO CARRY IT AROUND, loaded or unloaded, exposed or concealed unless you know exactly what you are doing.
