I only saw provisions for the standard prohibited persons (drugs, violence). Which section said any crime? I missed it.

I think he may mean this part...

Quote:
SECTION 2. (1) Except as provided in subsection (9) of this section, a person may not purchase or otherwise receive a firearm unless the person has first secured a permit to receive a firearm under this section.

(2)(a) A person may apply for a permit to receive a firearm from the sheriff of the county in which the person resides.
(b) The sheriff may charge a reasonable fee for processing applications for permits under this section.
(3) Within 30 days of receiving an application for a permit under this section, the sheriff shall issue a permit to receive a firearm if the applicant:
(a) Is at least 21 years of age;
(b) Has no prior criminal convictions...

Many years back the Corps issues me a M1 and a M3 at 18 but these young future legislators and voters think I'm too young to own a personal firearm---legally.

Just maybe they haven't lived long enough or ventured away from home and into the real world to make decisions that impact others.

Those folks and their ilk have been trying to make a perfect world since 1960.

Respectfully
Kyle

Socialist competition from the north? We will raise you one more ban and kill off 30 more handguns here.

So, now what do you got, WA? Raise or call?

Large-capacity magazine is a legislatively defined term, as follows:

Seems broad enough to encompass a revolver cylinder.

Its no longer a matter of "If Gun Bans are Coming", but "What State Is Next". Nevada is becoming a Blue State and most likely will enact an "Assault Weapons Ban" in the near future. Canada is close to fully banning ALL handguns under its ultra-liberal Trudeau. My theory as to why the sudden ban of firearms has to do with the economy. Once a California-style, if not more restrictive laws are passed at the Federal Level, the Stock Market Crash long predicted since 2008 will come to pass. It is possible even food rationing in such a scenario might return, as a sudden and rapid economic downturn would close many stores and business in a panic over a period of days. No government wants to face an armed and hungry populace, because it would be L.A. Riots on a massive scale. See Venezuela for how a gun ban translated into economic despair and rampant crime......

Its is but yet they are still allowed to write it and most will do nothing to stop it...

It's a non-starter, stopping it is not really required at this point.

So, why is that true? What political considerations make it unlikely?(Feel free to point me to other web sites with more info!)

Just trying to understand the dynamics here, not suggesting it has either a good or bad chance to pass.

I've been saying that for years ...

There is no value at all complaining or analyzing or reading tea leaves to decide what these bills really mean or actually do; any bill with a chance to pass will be bad for gun owners.

The details only count after the Governor signs the bills.

I believe it's introduced by children, in any case no rep would likely float it and even if a few did, most of them would be facing political suicide back home if they took the steps to push it through. Oregon D are not like CA or NY dems, even many urban democrats here are pro gun enough to reject this. A background check here or a waiting period there might stand a chance but this as it currently stands is really going nowhere IMO.

I could be wrong. It happened once before.

Historically Oregon has been pretty libertarian-ish but the influx of northerners is changing that slowly but steadily. We are famous for strip clubs, for instance, because of the strong free speech protections in our constitution.
