Default Ccw clothing idea's

I will start this, my personal experience. I am 6ft 220lb, got online to find some shirts, got on vrtex web site, they dont have variety or the size xl in stock, so disappointing, then I went to boot barn looked at some wrangler shirts but most are designed to be tucked in, then decided to get 2xl big and tall, which was longer, had my local dry cleaner sqare off and shorten the bottom to my liking.

Dickies makes a work shirt in tall sizes with the bottom already squared off. I'm retired so don't dress up very often. Usually it's just a Carhartt T shirt in 2XLT; if I need more cover I'll throw on the Dickies work shirt over the T shirt.

La police gear had a lot of shirts that might work last I went there. Also check out Bass pro.

Eddie Bauer stocks shirts, sweaters & jackets in TALL sizes.

For me, a necessity. Long torso.

For you, all the length you need.

For the most part, dress the way you normally do (assuming you are not a skinny jeans type) but perhaps add an inch more in the waist and go untucked more often. Get a very good belt...Bullhide Belts makes some very nice and heavy duty leather and some metal reinforced models, the latter reinforced models usually not needed for CCW, but at a minimum, you need a heavy duty leather belt.

Duluth Trading has well made long tail tee shirts for those days you want to OWB belt carry. Both short and long sleeve work well.

Skip the taticool pants and plate carrier vest....those scream nutcase.

Good idea on having the hem squared off at the local seamstress...I have a few shirts I might try that on.

Get ready to go through several holsters until you find the ones that work for you. I keep hoping CRPA has a gear sale day where I can unload my quality but not-for-me holsters.

I wear a "wife beater" to protect from my holster chaffing me as I carry IWB. I then put an XL 5.11 shirt (I wear a large!) over it. One size too big helps prevent printing!

This describes my approach perfectly!

Wearing a wife-beater helps keep an IWB holstered pistol from contacting/abrading the skin.

Cold/abrasive steel against the skin doesn't make you want to carry.

When coupled with a slightly larger shirt of your choice, it can make printing and discomfort a non-issue...

I wear a wife beater under my cover shirt but get hot with it tucked in, so I cut the back and sides out so that I can just tuck in the front for appendix carry.

Golf shirts and vests run big in the waist and underarms to account for swing room for us portly people. They make GREAT CCW shirts. I got a light vest at a discount golf store on sale for $28. It's the best article of CCW clothing I have and I certainly don't look like I am the type to carry.

I am 5-8, 185. I wear regular pants and regular shirts.

My pistol in a IWB holster. Even in summer times, I wear jeans and a t-shirt over my pistol, and I think no one suspects I carry.

Splash of Hoppes for aftershave too?

I've had good luck with finding button-up shirts at places like TJ Max or Marshals. I stay away from 5.11/VertX/Under Armour Tactical with their logo that screams gun guy.

FWIW I am 5'7'' 145lbs, appendix carrying millenial who still wears skinny jeans and Vans shoes

I don’t know how long you’ve had your ccw for, but I think everyone struggles in the beginning...

Depending on your body type, you’ll have different issues to work around.

Personally, I wear button downs that are loose fitting, and I try to go with thicker fabrics if possible

I’ve had the Santa Ana’s kick up while wearing a thin shirt, and the gun will print easily... I feel thicker shirts help a little

Really depends on your body type and where you carry. For me, appendix carry I can run a m&p 2.0 compact or G19 under a t shirt. Dark t shirts work best. If I go to a button up I could carry just about anything. Find what works for you.

I’m 2 inches taller and the same weight. My XL t shirts sit below the belt and cover plenty well enough. If I’m concerned, I’ll make sure I’m wearing a buttoned shirt since they tend to be an inch or two longer in my experience.

Other than an inch bigger in the pants, you shouldn’t need huge clothing changes. People are oblivious, even the smallest printing will go unnoticed.

T shirts that are a little big, or button up shirts with a pattern. I have a few that fit fairly snug but the pattern hides the minimal printing of a good AIWB holster.

It seems as though you have already made up your mind on what to wear OP. If that is the case its fine, however, why ask the question in the first place?

I don't know which Alien Gear you have but the Crossbreed Super Tuck does not put any Kydex against your skin, only the leather and possibly the back of the nutserts do. And your body oils are necessary to soften the leather and smooth the backside naturally. You need to spend the time breaking it in.

Yep, same as you and Jake. Carhartt T or button shirt with some length on top.
BTW, I found the long version of the beaters (aka "A" shirt) stay tucked in, as the normal length did not.

I own two of these 5.11 Covert shirts.

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00...sin_title&th=1

They have extra length and do not have any logos or labels on the exterior at all. The fabric is heavy weight similar to rayon and uses snap buttons. These shirts ran large for me. I wear Columbia button ups in large and had to exchange my first pair of Coverts for medium. Right now the medium and large sizes are going for under $20.

SKIP the 5.11 vest. The mag pockets are NOT re-inforced.

Unless you WANNA leave loaded mags on the deck for others.

Another vote here for Carhartt t-shirts in tall sizes. That's pretty much my whole wardrobe these days. They're a little thicker than most t-shirts, so they resist printing a little better. I've been carrying OWB with only a t-shirt as a cover garment for years with zero problems.

Duluth trading clothing, But the no butt crack T-shirts. V-neck or standard all the long/tall are 3" longer and they dont shrink, Quality and they run about 20 bucks. I swear by them no printing. I;m your same size and height.
