A few months back I was looking for a good light to put on my M&P 9c bedside gun. Unfortunately I didn't find what I was looking for here in CalGuns, but then a few weeks ago I walked into a local gun store and saw this light and realized it was exactly what I was looking for. 100 lumens isn't going to light up the night sky, but it's perfect for looking down the hall at night. It's a nice wide beam. It fits my 9c well and barely sticks out past the end of the barrel (if at all).

I figured I would post this in case anyone else was looking for a light for the 9c, or any other gun. It's a great little light.

I just shot a Shield today, because I was thinking about picking one up due to good rebate. I was blown away by the stock trigger.

Now, I'm thinking about picking up a full-size 9. Is the trigger break just as good? I don't give two rats *** about the reset, just the break. The sample of Shield I shot was a rental, and the break was moderate but crisp; exactly how I like them. I don't care for light triggers (not due to safety); just like that substantial, heavy "wall".

Any folks with older stock triggers care to share some insight? Or is Apex the only route to go? I had an M&P 45 full-size before, but it came with an Apex already installed, so I never experienced the stock trigger.

FS and C triggers are better than Shield triggers when they have the updated trigger system of the newer variants. They break a little further back and have less over-travel.

The cost is minor to upgrade and totally worth it. I have the PRO sear in mine, but the stock sear is perfectly fine.

The bolded part is actually a con for me. I like it when triggers break really far forward / long trigger reach. I think I'm just going to pony up another $30 to rent the full-size before I make my decision. Nothing better than actual trigger time to evaluate a gun.

I should correct to say that the "wall" before the break on the Shield is further forward than the FS and C meaning you have more travel before the break on the Shield. Also, these are off-roster so you'll be paying the CA premium on these. Fair price is between $700-750.

The way you can generally tell between an early FS vs the later FS is the round, ILS hole/cut-out found on the left side of the pistol vs the square manual safety cut-out found on both sides. The ILS will have an arrow with "lock" on it. The manual safety cut-outs or TS cut-outs typically mean that the pistol has the updated, H-trigger bar and slide stop not to mention the revised barrel and larger sear spring.

Feel free to PM me if you find one and I'll evaluate the pistol based on the FS thread. I'm pretty sure that you'll like the FS or C variants regardless. I am like you, and prefer the OEM trigger system over the super light, competition style triggers.

I have a full size 45 (bedside gun), full size 40/357/9 and two Shield 9s... All have stock triggers (I've never felt the need to swap).

I have aftermarket triggers on almost all long guns (at least 10 of 'em) so I'm all about good triggers - just never felt the need on any of my M&P pistols.

Apex as well as hyve make a drop in trigger for the shield. I handled a new unit the other day thinking of buying and the take up was crunchy. The break, crisp. No over travel.

I have a M&P 9mm 2.0. The grip texturing is much improved as well as the trigger pull (at least from dry firing.) I have not had a chance to shoot it yet. The much rougher grip inserts are backwards compatible so I put the mediums on my old M&P 1.0 and kept the small ones on the new one.

Sorry, no pics yet.

Hi all! New member on here! I am 70 years old, an NRA member, USCCA member, Vietnam Veteran, Kern County CCW permit holder. I own an M&P Shield 9MM, and that is my primary carry weapon, I liked it so much, I decided after a lot of thought, to purchase an M&P 2.0 9MM, and found a gun store near me (50) miles away, and went there to see about buying one. Their on line web site showed they had the weapons available for sale, but when I got there, the lady said the M&P is not on the Roster of legal guns! I could have sworn I has looed on the Roster recently and the M&P 2.0 was there, but not now!! Anyone know why the gun fell off the list???

You're mistaken. The 2.0 was never on the list and cannot be added on the list due to the microstamping law (impossible to comply with).

The 1.0 WAS on the list, but was removed and has never returned.

Local pawn shop here had a used, looked new, one fore $279. I've seen them used around me FF or $300-$350. You didn't get a super deal but you didn't really get ripped off either.

Anyone have a consensus on whether the flat or curved apex trigger is preferred on their shield? Got one and getting ready to do a few upgrades all at once.

I purchased a Smith and Wesson sd9ve. It would not lock back on the last round fired. I could manually lock the slide back with a magazine in place but not if it was fired.

I fixed it by modifying the magazine follower. There seems to be a tolerance stack-up issue with a design of this model. The magazine after you insert it, it drops down a little which causes of magazine to drop down and the slide latch does not engage as well. Take apart the magazine and position the magazine follower so that it's pointed at you where the tip of the bullet is located. On the left hand side of the follower there's a steep Sharp feature on the side of the follower. This is only for the 10-round magazines. File down that sharp feature buy a 16th of an inch or a little more. Take your handgun to the range and test. You can find tune it at the range. Do not use epoxy or caulking compound. If you don't want to fool with it then return it to Smith & Wesson for repair or if it won't lockback manually return it to Smith & Wesson because it's too far out to fix in this method. If you have a 16-round magazine I do not have a fix for that. Unfortunately I'm in Socialist Republic of California.

Picked up my M&P 2.0 C today. Put 550 rounds through her without a hiccup. Looks like she's ready to ride in a holster. 20180313_203049.jpgIMG_20180313_203704_686.jpg

Are you happy with that original apex on your shield or do you wish you gone the flatty route like your full size?

To be honest with you, at first I did regret not doing the flat trigger but after a bit I like the curved better on the shield. It's not a full sized gun, it doesn't need it. I'm happy with the shield the way it is and my full sized the way it is. It's perfect for ccw, and that's what I consider the shield for my purposes. If I got an m&p 2.0c that's where I would really need to consider flat vs curved. I would probably go flat... But it would depend on how much I intended to CCW it. I wouldn't want Flat trigger on a gun I was shoving in an aiwb holster.

Thanks that's exactly the way I was leaning especially with this holstered pointed at my nuts. That and every picture it looks like it leaves much less room to get your finger in there before its actually touching the trigger on the flat. Curved it is. Thanks.

Apex's LCI replacement for the Shield cleans it up nicely. I can't get the rear sights off to save my life so my frank proctor sights and apex trigger goodies are in their packages til I finds a confident gun smith or I decide to give it a wack again...

I just perused the whole thread, wow! Lots of nice looking M&P’s.

I’ve had a 9c for a while, but haven’t put a light on it yet. It’s my carry gun and was looking at Veridian C5L for a while, but then saw the TLR-6. To make the decision harder I just saw the new TLR-7.

Has anyone put the TLR-7 on their 9c? Looking for pics or reviews. Seems like a great light but is it too much for carry gun?
