Wards Western Field Model 37
A friend asked me to clean up this old .22LR. It has serious rust on it, which I cleaned somewhat with steel wool & kroil, Etc. But not aggressively! I mixed up some Murphy's wood soap and cleaned the wood stock. It looks much better.
My friend also asked me if I could locate a magazine. This is where I need help. The receiver is marked Wards Western Field model 37, Cal 22 s l or LR. No serial number. Cross references show this rifle is also a Mossberg model 30, which is not correct. An internet search indicates that I'm not the first person to be misguided by this information. Also, there's provisions for a receiver peep sight. That would be interesting. Thanks in advance for any help.

Looks just like my old Steven’s model 56. I’d bet it’s the same magazine. Try Numrich. Or eBay for that matter.

I just have the blade sights. The front site was missing (my mom’s rifle from back in the day). I got a reproduction front site from Numrich.

Oh wow is that neat. I love old Sears and Wards rifles. Makes me remember seeing them in the big Sears and Wards catalogs as a kid.

It was my father's and I added the scope when I was about the same age as he was when he got it which was 15.

Let us know how it works. I need a new magazine and remember seeing a couple versions on ebay: one that was an "old model" one and the newer one.
