Default new Ruger Guide gun

It looks like the new Ruger built Guide Gun is here.

I hope Ruger produces it in stainless, matte finish, and with a better rear sight.
Glad to see the sling studs.

I agree!

But we all like to comment on things so I will say that I like everything about the rifle except the stock. I prefer the straight stocks on my lever guns.

The Marlin Guide model was a straight stock/loop but it's nice to see Ruger bring back some good stuff.

It's good to see that they are taking their time and making good guns.

The one I posted yesterday is already up to $1400.

Not a fan of the laminate wood but this one isnt too bad..

I'm guessing smart move on Ruger's part to keep the Marlin name visible.
Even tho it is a Ruger.

Wouldn't that be the 1895 SBL?

Same 19" barrel length...

I wonder if they aren’t going to make the guide gun anymore and replacing it with the GBL.

I have a Marlin GBL. Bought it during the pandemic. Glad to see I ONLY paid $700ish for it lol.

Saw a 20" (19?) in stainless at the local gun show Saturday, big loop 45-70 right?

This guy wanted $5,000 for his, said it was 1 in 75.

The metalwork was excellent, very slick action... About 8/10 fit/finish wood to metal I thought. Don't get me wrong and perhaps I am being too picky, it was a step better than the Remlins for sure but not perfect.

I love it! It would be a new caliber for me to reload, but I’m tempted . . .

Just saw this today. I loved the stainless model they released, with the exception that it was stainless. So this is perfect. I'm assuming there's no issue wth this gun in California?

That'd be their "Trapper" - Ruger/Marlin's second offering after the new SBL. It's been posted here, somewhere, about three, four months ago?

Thank you for that. I’ve been deep into other projects lately, and haven’t looked at all the new Rumars in a while.

^^^^^^Nice, thank you for the link.
I would buy that, and send it to Jim Brockman for his rear sight, and a pedestal scope bases. Similar to what he did for our CZ527.

Now if they'd only make it a takedown.

The arms room will do the conversion to a takedown on a marlin, not cheap though and a long wait.

After some time using a Wild West Co-Pilot on a foray for hogs years ago, and with some range time, the takedown concept dose not do much for me when it gets right down to it. It’s real utility is the ability to store it in a small case, but that won’t help you when you are actually carrying or firing it. If you were taking it along on a backpack trip, having it broken down would negate the ability to get it into action quickly, as compared to a regular Carbine-length lever rifle that was in a pack scabbard, or slung. Might as well simply use a very powerful sidearm. In a Jeep, ATV, truck, or other ground vehicle, a good rack system can hold a regular rifle, that can be ready as you grab hold of it. The takedown versions can of course be carried assembled as well, and at that point they offer no advantage.
If you really need a small envelope for transport, go for it. But remember that it’s not going to be quick to get going.

It's basically for ease of transport without raising eyebrows. Being able to put it in a daypack would make it immensely practical for transport. You could take it out on a hike, dirt bike, mountain bike, 4WD, skis, cessna/piper with no one being the wiser. Once you're out of civilization and away from prying eyes, then assemble it and carry with a sling.
