Default Defective Freedom Week Mag Question

I got several Tapco 30rd mags during freedom week and one of them has never loaded right in my rifle. It will frequently spew all of its contents out as well. Do I have any recourse for obtaining a replacement, or at least parts, under the law as it is now?

Also I think Tapco is bought out by Remington. Those mags are not longer manufactured & are discontinued by the manufacturer.

Tapco is out of business as far as I know, so you're SOL on that.

What is allowed under CA laws is...
You taking the large capacity magazine to a gunsmith, that gunsmith then repairing it, and then returning the large capacity magazine to you. [PC 32425]

Penal Code 32425
Section 32310 does not apply to any of the following:
(a) The lending or giving of any large-capacity magazine to a person licensed pursuant to Sections 26700 to 26915, inclusive, or to a gunsmith, for the purposes of maintenance, repair, or modification of that large-capacity magazine.
(b) The possession of any large-capacity magazine by a person specified in subdivision (a) for the purposes specified in subdivision (a).
(c) The return to its owner of any large-capacity magazine by a person specified in subdivision (a).

TAPCO was the JC Whitney of gun parts. CDNN has had a major blowout for about a month on TAPCO parts, but I guarantee they won't ship 30's to California.

You can repair or replace any PART of the magazine, but not the whole magazine. There is significant ambiguity as to what constitutes a "large capacity magazine conversion kit" (which is outlawed). You can certainly change/replace followers, springs, (standard) base plates, and possibly even the magazine body. YMMV
