Needed: someone to start collect info on counties’ GMC requirements

baggss and I have discussed Good Moral Character (GMC) and how it varies by county. But, frankly, we're volunteers and keeping up with Good Cause for the CA CCW GC map keeps us busy enough. If someone want to help “the cause” but doesn’t know what to do gathering and organizing info on GMC is needed.

GMC can include a variety of things: LiveScan and background checks. Neighbor interviews/recommendation. Work verification. Employer recommendation. Non family letters of recommendation. Psych eval. Character assessments (volunteer work for religious, benevolent, or service organizations (suicide hotlines, homeless shelters, food banks, retirement homes), charitable donations).

I should have explained why I think collecting and posting information about, ultimately, all 58 countries’ GMC/background check process is important. It’s because last week the NRA and NYSRPA asked SCOTUS to take a case that could gut CA’s GC requirement.

If that happens the only wiggle room anti chiefs and sheriffs will have is their GMC standard.
