Thanks for the heads-up on this, been looking for it for a while now. Haven't looked at these since Marlin days, and definitely out of the loop. Last one I had was a Henry Wildlife 45-70, it was a beast and gorgeous but I never got a chance to fire her before I sold it off here.

I like the utilitarian look of these with the stainless/black comp stocks a lot.

Anyhow just wanted to say thanks and good looking out.

The 1895 trapper with all black stock was in stock a few different places yesterday for 1200 and 1250

A month or so ago the stainless with grey laminate stock and bit longer barrel which IIRC is the guide model was going for $2,700 online from dealers. I lost interest immediately.

Maybe in a couple years it will come down. Otherwise I'll make due with my 45-70 from the '70s.

Holy crap! Why so much? I got my GBL for like 700+ taxes and fees during the gun run at the beginning of the pandemic. Just saw gunbroker current bids for stock ones for like 1100-1400

Yes plywood stocks. - real Marlins are bringing a premium. Ruger Marlins are bringing a premium because people want the first offering. Ruger has changed some of the parts and design to make it quicker and cheaper to produce. The same things they did to screw up their Red Label shotgun which led them to remove them from the market after a few months and many warranty claims.

Do tell what parts they changed to make it “quicker and cheaper to produce”. They are still using a forged stainless receiver, much to the dismay of the naysayers who swore they would go to investments cast and hammer forged barrels, which should be an improvement, but I will agree that what they did to the Red Labels was almost criminal; ruined the last true American double gun.

As far as “plywood” stocks, for an all weather, stainless firearm I’ll take that over walnut every time.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my Marlin Marlins; I own four 1893s (all pre-1906), three 1894s (one that is fairly modern), two 1895s, two 1892s a couple of 336 and a 444, but I don’t see the Ruger-made being the abhorrent disaster the Remlins were. The reviews have been very positive and I’m looking forward to adding my first SS Marlin soon and can guarantee I’ll be honest either way it turns out.

There are sellers on GB, like the one I bought, selling for slightly more ($25) over retail and the seller did 0% for credit cards, so he did just under retail and $35 shipping since I paid cash. My FFL (who I just found out is retiring!), charged me $62 all in for the transfer.

Fit and finish are very nice; no sharp trigger, matte finish on all the stainless parts are matched well and over all fit for wood to metal is excellent.

Do you have a gunbroker account? If not, make one and go to advanced search for completed auctions.

I stopped counting after 20 SOLD auctions all of which have sold for more than 1350.

It might have, but this is unfired in original box. I bought 2 of these unfired in original box, one in 22 and one in 32acp from an old buddy for 700 in 2020, Sold the 22 for 550 and kept the 32 since its much rarer. So I have 150 into it. Ruger is setting us up for the big $ increase for the 336 and 94 models.

I wish they would cut the BS and get right to the 94 model in .357 thats blued and has a real walnut stock. Let's face it, that's the one that most people want.

I'm the one guy that has a great Remlin 94. I haven't seen a JM mark 94 that I would trade for. Let's go Ruger, stop goofing around.

They would sell double the 94s over 95, just from a caliber standpoint; 357, 44mag, 45 Colt, etc and could market them as companions to their Vaquero and Blackhawk lines.

I’m by no means saying you are lying, but the amount you paid on GB is out of the norm. The market is what it is. I won’t even get into the $62 total FFL fee. Your FFL is offering his services for extremely cheap, and way cheaper than most FFLs. I thought I had it good with a 104$ OTD guy.

There’s always someone who seems to be able to find deals that nobody else can get..

I agree, but on occasions, there are deals. The guy I bought from on GB had two and sold them within a few hours.

As for my FFL, he is retiring next month, but he has been awesome! It was actually $62.19 for the transfer….

Because nothing is cheap on Calgun anymore and too many people always on the forums. Only way you can get is by luck.
I was using armslist before they have pay membership. I got JM stainless 44mag for 800, and 45-70 for 900 with 200 rounds.

1894s are the next to go online for production. 336s are supposed to be December or January
