Default Any Krag experts?

Found this old shooter, I love the Krag action and have been looking for one for some time, this one seems clean enough as a candidate for restoration.

Sporterized style-stock - front sight looks original.

a .30-06 round was way too long - but a .308 round actually seemed to almost fit in the chamber.
Unfortunately there are no details whatsoever with the rifle.
All matching numbers on bolt barrel and receiver.

1924 dated receiver.
Looks like a Norwegian M1894 RIFLE except:
1. "Scalloped" receiver where Springfield marking are often found.
2. Pierced trigger guard.

*edit - I guess it's a: Krag-Jorgensen Carbine Model 1912 Dated 1924 - hopefully in 6.5x55 not 30-40 - it's a lot cheaper!

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Model 1889 in this auction - you can compare the front of your weapon to the one at the link.

Yes - that's the one, mis-named for auction as many are.

That original stock and weird SMLE style bayonet attachment, which BTW was one of the reasons this rifle was short lived, will be really tough to restore from sporterized condition. It's cheap so I'll snag it, and it is 6.5 Swedish, which is not super expensive.

Looks like a Kongsberg stamp so it's a Norwegian rifle. M/1912-22.

I’m looking forward to updates on how this project progresses. While I know a bit about US Krags, I am sorry to say that I know almost nothing about the Norwegian varieties.

It's a Norse M1912 Carbine in its original caliber of 6.5 Swedish, a great looking and fairly rare rifle if it were in its original layout.
This only needs the stock - I have sourced the missing metal stock fittings and bayonet lug + reinforcement band.

However...

I have learned from all the Krag forums and collector areas, that this is literally amongst the most difficult Krag stocks to find or have reproduced.

It is a full length stock, so difficult to ship internationally, and none of the US makers of such things have a Matrix available to copy from - three emails back over the last two days.
It has a rear sight location unlike another Krag so adapting a more common Norse Krag (lol, also an expensive item) stock is not possible.

I think it may have to be a pass from me and I move onto the next project.

I did a restoration like this many years ago with a G41M and got it finished, but it can be a long expensive road, and in this case I'm not so sure that this finished rifle would warrant the effort.

If anyone does have one, let me know, I'll pay to rent your stock to have it duplicated by S&S.

Hope this is a helpful post.
