It was a PITA to get the gas system to fit the AK.It still needs to be test fired but it should work just fine. You have to either open the gas block up for the AK piston to fit or turn the piston down(we did a little of both on this one).JP turned the piston down on a hand grinder but it came out really good and the gas block was opend to just under 14mm.

JPs 9mm carbine

Didn't I already do this one? lol

Lichtenberg Research offers these mag wells for the DIY guys. We're working on offering trunnions and barrels for 9mm conversions, and 762x25....

Latest build. This is a screw build. I had to know what it was like building both. I unfortunately did not tap the trunnions but did most of the demil myself. Started off with some Bulgarian blond wood.

I later found a sweet deal on some finished laminate wood. This is my favorite to date.

Finally, here is a pic of the Romy G family.

No more Romy G builds for me. Saving the last two receivers for other variants.

The fixed mag builds are not for me all though they are a little more comfortable to shoot. Reloading blows. I will be getting a Monsterman grip for it as soon as the new ones are available. Thanks for the kind remarks guys.

I have been re-sculpting the new AK grip. It is the same concept, but much different the original AK MMG. It is much more comfortable to hold the rifle than the older grip was. Hopefully I can get it out sometime in the next month.

Plink, all your AK's look great, but I have to say, you should've left that bulgy blond wood on -- that gun looks sweet with the black pistol grip. Where'd you get it from?

I got it on ARF. It's currently in a box with my US poly set. Not sure what I am going to do with it yet. Just started the reloading and USPSA thing so I may need to part with them to get some cash.

Default PTR-91F, It will be here in 2-3 weeks.

I just picked up this PTR-91 from a seller on GB today.

It is the PTR 91 F with the 18" Match Barrel, (I think all of them come like that)..

The whole package cost me $955 inc. shipping, the scope mount, Simmons Scope, 1 20 rnd mag, 1 10 rnd mag and 1 5 rnd mag. The seller states that he has only shot 75 rounds through her.

I am going to have it shipped to VOW first where they will make the necessary mods before comming into CA. They are also going to install a Muzzle Brake on her. I am thinking of going with the IGF one.
VOW will modify the 20 rnd mag into a 10 round one.

I think the overall package was a fair price at $955, and VOW always cuts me a deal on the work and transfer.

I can't wait to get her in my hands

Hey Addax, I have my heart set on a PTR-91 myself. I am hoping once my tax return comes through I will be able to put some money down to pick one up. The model you have coming is almost exactly what I was looking for! How/Who would you recommend to help with getting it CA-Legal?

Thanks for any help/advice you can give, I've really got my heart set on this model for my semi-auto .308 rifle.

If you are in the Valley, I can recommend Metroshot in San Fernando.

http://www.metroshot.us

I'm proud to say every PTR Pat sells now is Rorschach-lock and 10/20equipped.

I officially hate you all.

How in the heck are you getting 30rd mags here? How are you getting Ak's? How are you getting "evil black rifles" and drums and crazy freaking stuff like that?

Do you have special licenses or what?

How much to some of these cost? And where can you buy them, or can you only build them? I love to have a detachable-mag 7.62x39 rifle, but I'm stuck with my little SKS for now.

Forgive my noob-ishness... but these guns are all crazy freaking cool.

You too can have some evil black rifles pretty easily, read some of the stickies.

As for the drums and 30 rounders, if you didn't already have them prior to 2000 you are SOL and are stuck with 10 rounders ( 30 round lookalikes are available if you have to have "the look").

How is it that you have over 200 posts and don't know how to get an EBR? Or are you just having fun with us?

It's very easy to post 200 times here and not visit the 7.62 thread I mostly stick to the buy/sell and political forums.

I don't know a lot of the fine points about OLL's and so forth... and according to a gunstore owner I spoke to yesterday, OLL's are a "grey area" and that means that's somewhat illegal and he doesn't want to touch it.

"Just your luck you'd be picking it up with the FFL got raided by the BATF" he said.

How much do some of these suckers cost?

For the PTR91, how is it fixed? Does it require a tool to release?

Well, I don't frequent this thread very often... but EBR's are freaking sweet. I'm seriously thinking of selling my Rem. 740/7400 to help fun my EBR or self-loading/detachable mag 7.62x39 fantasy, whether it's EBR or wood or whatever......

I just discovered that Ruger makes a rifle that's a detachable mag - 7.62... I want it.

For the 800+ that MSRP is in on the ruger, you would be FAR better off getting a AKM clone.

You can build up a very fine AR-15 for about $600 or so, an NIB PTR-91 can be had for a hair over $1000, under $1000 from private individuals. Used can be as low as $800 or so.

AKs are (I think....not too into those yet) around $500, again depending on if you build it yourself, buy new/used, what parts it contains, etc.

So we're not talking huge money here.

Oh, and there is no "gray area".

OLLs are fully in compliance with the diktats of this communist republik.
