Question on the sling requirement.....will it be implemented for shooting or just for carrying to the firing positions?

Sling is used to support rifle from line to line ..
we start at 200 and walk out to 1k and back to pits .
Back pack with ammo/support bags etc .. it’s nice to have youre hands free when moving.

But in our match’s we do use slings for positional (standing kneeling sitting and unsupported prone ) this typically on course of fire 3 (hardcore)
So watch out for that , when signing up for shoots but typically I carry a sling every match .. just in case the match directors get feisty!
And throw in a unsupported position stage .
Hope this helps !

Awesome. Thank you. Very helpful. I'll make sure I have a sling set up for carrying between positions.
I actually sew my own padded tactical style slings. I need to work on some ideas for precision rifle slings, length, pad width etc for supported shooting.

Thanks for sharing and inviting....I'm brand new to long range, I've always wanted to learn it. I still need to get a scope and start shooting locally. I assume first steps would be to get familiar with my gun and zeroed at 100 yards.
Any chance you (or anyone here) can recommend a couple good websites that discuss solid basics, or youtube channels with quality information. There are so many out there I'd love to cut down the start up time of sorting out who to listen to / watch.
Thanks!

I recommend here .. to start https://m.youtube.com/c/PHILLIPVELAYO/videos

Phil is marine scout sniper instructor and is very active in long range and PRS , the skills are applicable to many shooting disciplines .. he has a few on shooter check lists /fundamentals etc I recommend .. this will get you in the door , but there is no better option than getting behind the gun and just getting to learn your system .. and after that seek some type of training it will help you immensely, to put it all together.

any questions don’t hesitate to ask ..
NCPPRC offers practice every monthly match’s weekend and steel match’s every odd month ..
so don’t waste time , that you can be shooting !
Regards
Tob5

You killed two markers by putting rounds in the same hole. Impressive shooting.
