Negative. The Gun Range has no connections to the good folks in Elk Grove. What other thread?

I went again this time with my younger brother. Shot 300 trouble-free rounds through my Sig and had a blast. Literally.

Again, pleasant people behind the counter. It's nice going to a place where the help doesn't have a giant chip on their shoulder or try to push something down your throat that you don't really want or need.

As I said earlier in the thread, even though I live in the south area...this range is worth my time/gas.

This place is the nicest so far, both facility and associates and I am pleased to get confirmed by Dragon that it has diffferent owner with THE GUN ROOM in Elkgrove, I have never got problems with it but some ones reviews... I don't know what really happened there to make people mad, the thread is long enough to read for hours!

Someone was not happy that the place didn't have a fully stocked showroom with accessories and some of the paint work had runs on the cinder block.

I take full responsibility for the paint runs- it was probably me, painting until 3AM before the grand opening and having to be back at 8AM.

There were a few other issues that we took as constructive criticism, and they have been mostly addressed.

Everybody happy with the Gun range North Highlands. The unhappy thread is about the Gun room in Elk grove, that why we feel relieved to know that The Gun Range has different owner

Im pretty sure they are not the same owners. I believe Seth and ummm sorry cant remember the other guys names, but they are the co owners i believe. I just went there today for the 100th time since they opened and brought a friend with me who has not shot in about 10 years. He had a blast so now I have another person to shoot with. Shot a sig mosquito there and it did very well with the cci mini mag ammo.

If someone can confirm, the let you draw from the holster and fire? If so, that is awesome.

I believe you have to get special permission for the holster firing. Be sure and ask.

Roger that. It is rare for a static range, especially an indoor range to allow that. When I come back home in a couple of weeks for a visit, I'm there.

One other thing, how about shotgun slugs? I need to zero in some optics on two of shotguns before my training class in a few weeks.

Epilepticninja; Holster draw (strong hip side only- no shoulder rigs etc) is reserved for LEO/CCW only. We allow this during slow hours where we can assign a whole bay to you. Confirm w/ your Range Safety Officer first.

Shotguns are fine as long as your shooting center mass only.

Here is a .50 at the range:

Dragon, thanks for the info. This would be for my CCW practice. I'll check when I go there next time I'm back home. If it is busy and I can't, no biggie. If I can, than that would be great. And the shotguns are for center mass sighting in of the optics only. Looking forward to going there. Saves me from having to run out to Beale where I typically shoot (when I'm home.)

I went in a couple weeks ago for the first time and simply showed my LTC and they let me do some holster work. Great range and a really nice ventilation system.

Dragon, I was wondering about the "steel core/jacketed" rule. My tula 7.62x39 is magnetic, but I'm pretty sure its lead core and copper jacketed. Clarification?

edit: I think its bi-metal jacketed. I know its magnetic.

We sell Tula 7.62x39- so no worries. As long as it is not AP- you should be OK.

All there ammo prices are really good. barley more then you would pay at say any shooting store and like maybe a buck or a buck fifty more then wal-mart. It makes it great when you rent guns and have to use their ammo. I won't quote prices on here in the event they change them a bit here or there.

I came to shoot today, it was 105 outside but 77 in here 😊, 2 guys who shot next to me on lane 8 just left without sweeping and throw away their target, I had to clean for them! It was a great day at this A/C indoor range. The air cycle very quick, about 2 min all the smoke sucked out, it is clean air. They invest a lot to this facility.

I agree on the vent system its unreal. Cleaning up after others is what I would do too. But those are mostly first time shooters or just people who don't go to ranges very often. If its 'your range' like i have come to think of The Gun Range as 'my range' you will keep it clean and not be mad cleaning up after others. Although I'm sure the staff gets paid to do it :-D

Still waiting for the action bay setup. I kid. We casually talked about it. Wasn't sure if you were serious.

I'll be there tomorrow morning (11ish) with my brother and our friend. It will my friend's b-day and he's never shot a gun before and is interested in buying one down the road. So, he will probably want to fondle a few handguns as well.

Went there today. Met the "Dragon" and swapped some back-in-the-day LEO stories with him. Was able to draw from the holster, practice double/triple taps, shoot at various distances, and sight in new optics for my Winnie 1300. Cool place, good pricing on range fees, and everyone there was helpful and friendly. Will definetly return on my next voyage home.

+1. Any news on when this will be available? I'd come a lot more if I could afford it...

Me and my girlfriend will be teaching a friend new to firearms today :]

Edit: Went and had a blast!

I went to Just Guns to pick-up a part from the gunsmith Gary Thirty today.

Since I was in the neighborhood, I thought I would check-out The Gun Range.
I met Seth, very nice, courteous and informative individual.
He walked me thru the facilities and explained the operation in detail to me.

I was so impressed, I went back out to my car to get my gear and returned
back in to try-out the new range here in North Highlands.

Very nice place to shoot. Like others have said.
Also, the prices on new handguns are very reasonable.

I really enjoyed my experience there today, and will recommend to all of my friends
and will be coming back on a regular basis.

I was in South Sac waiting for my son to finish up a class that he is in. I decided to stop by The Gun Room. They had some ventilation issues because it wasn't as cool as The Gun Range. Oh well....convenience was that it was much closer to Consumnes otherwise I would have gone to The Gun Range.
Yeah, I tried the Gun Room a couple of times thinking I'd avoid the heat at Sac Valley .. was pretty miserably hot in there . Definitely want to try this new one!
