Not so sure about all three days, but if some of us can crash in your room, we will try to keep room service costs down;-)

I went to cabelas on sunday. spent only 212.00 dollars.then went to my favorite casino in minden and won 440.00 dollars.free trip and free stuff. I love it.
I may be up for the gun show as the 17th is my b-day.
I always seem to find more at cabelas than the gun show though.
We should set up a couple car pools.

I'm debating going, but I won't know for sure until the date is a bit closer.

That seems to be the best show in the region.

ETA

Confirmed with my boss I could have Friday off and confirmed with the wife I can do a boys weekend. I don't know what I'll be shopping for, but I'll be there.

My dad, wife, son, and I will be there early on friday. Driving over from the Eureka area. Going to try my luck at getting a 1k of .223 before it's gone.

One of the things that I'll be looking for at the show is a 1K of 223. I believe Milwal will be there but what kind of ammo do they sell? Is it their own stuff or do they (or others) have Wolf, Partizan, etc? Are show prices (not including gas, admission, hotel) comparable to decent online "deals" or is the internet still the "best" place to purchase bulk?

My experience with Fun Shows is that you never know what you'll find.

Sometimes you find a vendor with great pricing, and they're sold out by Saturday at Noon. Other places are looking to charge top dollar, and still have plenty of stock on Sunday.

I haven't been to this (or any) show since November 4th, but I suspect that anything AR or M1A related, ammo in .45, .40 S&W, .223, or .308 will be gone on Sunday, high prices or not.

On the other hand, it's fun to walk the isles and see what people have got. Now and again, the good deal just calls your name.

If nothing else, Reno is a fun place to spend a weekend.

I love the big reno show. I live in Sac so I think i will just be doing a day trip up there.... I usually spend the whole day out there. I have been to the crossroads show but it is not my fortay... it seems to be more of a western themed show and it isnt nearly as fun (for me anyhow ) to check it out.

I am planning on it. Going with a couple of buddies. Grand Sierra has gun show rooms for $100. $20 with an extra guy. Not too bad if you're splitting it.

A friend and I are driving up from Sacramento on Saturday.

The biggest thing I'm looking for is to get a Stag complete upper. Left handed if all possible, but heck, I'd settle for a right handed one at this point.

Hoping to also pick up 500 rounds of .223. Friends is looking for a thousand of .223, 500 of 9mm, and 500 of .45.

Any idea if the NRA will have a booth outside like they used to do at CalExpo? I need to rejoin...

I'm staying at Motel a 6. It's a lot cheaper than $50/night and I'm only a short drive away from the Grand Sierra.

I have a group of us going. If you see two really hot asian girls with a bunchy of dopey drunk guys thats us! We have gone the last three shows.

Although I'm not expecting much in the way of deals this time. Its probably gonna be a mad house. Oh well, just one more excuse to go to Reno and party.

I'm looking for a C&R pistol or two: RC P38, TT33, 1895 Nagant.

Are any of the big distributors at the Reno show: Sarco, J&G Sales, SOG etc.?

Thanks,

tim

Two places I want to point out while you're in town if you don't find what you're looking for at this weekend's show (Crossroads) or the Big Reno Show at the GSR:

1. Scheel's Sporting Goods in Sparks had many 1000-round loose packs of Federal XM193BK (bulk pack) for under $400. I think the price was $339 or so. You take I-80E past I-395 interchange for about four miles. It's the last exit before you're out of town. You cannot miss the enormous glass-windowed Scheel's megastore on the left side of the interstate.

2. The True Value Hardware over in Fernley usually has crates of 5.56, Russian 7.62, milsurp .30-06, etc on their showroom floor. Yes, hardware stores in Nevada sell EBRs. You get to Fernley by continuing on I-80E past Scheels' until the Fernley exit some 15 mins down the road. Then, just drive six blocks or so down Fernley's main drag until you see True Value Hardware on your right.

If you want to go shooting while you're here, take Pyramid Hwy. north out of Sparks approximately 22 miles. The shooting range sign is on the left side of the road in the far, north end of Palamino Valley. Turn left on the dirt road at the sign and follow it to the range. That's Washoe Country Regional Shooting Facility. 7am to 5pm, but they close a little earlier if it's cold, snowy, or windy. Costs $5 to shoot. Range is very much like Chabot up in CA's Oakland Hills. Has a '1000-yard' gong, but it's really only 987 yards if you believe laser rangefinders.

I'll be driving up with a friend of mine who is also a calgunner. I'll be trying to hunt down some primers and any good deals on C&R guns.

Anyone know which booth(s) I should head for 1st to get a good/decent deal on primers?

I just booked my hotel room (BTW as of 4 pm today....the Grand Sierra Resort is fully booked for friday the 17th).

My plan is to take Friday off and drive up to Reno, hit the show Fri/Sat, and then proceed into the quietest part of central Nevada backcountry for a couple of days of quiet camping/backpacking -- just my rifle, my pony, and me*.

--Neill

*technically this should be "my EBR, half a dozen S&W revolvers, some steel targets, probably 5000 rounds of ammo, my Jeep, and me."

Might be heading up early Saturday morning. It's the same weekend as the GIANT *** airshow at Beale that I've been looking forward to forever.

I'll be looking for ammo, an SVT-40 or a decent .22 and 5.56 railed upper. Probably won't happen, but any .510DTC ammo would be nice as well.

If work avails, long weekend trip - leave Fri noon, return Sun afternoon.

Liz can do some shopping/antiquing while "stretch my legs" at the show.

Will be wearing my traditional red short-sleeve shirt at the show, look for the Giant.

(I can really use a good Whiskey Sour up there too...)

Just for the ill-informed...

And an extra:

Walter Brennan sings!

Note: Walter Brennan in the 1930's did sing in a few movies with a reasonably good voice. But his acting was better than his singing. Ken Curtis, who played "Festus" in Gunsmoke was also a singer in the 30's and joined the Tommy Dorsey band to replace their lead singer who went solo - Frank Sinatra.

The giant? Bet I gotcha beat. If you can spot me, I'll buy ya a whiskey sour...even better if they have Bookers!

Keep an eye out for the seven foot tall guy. I'll see what I can do about finding a red shirt to stand out a bit as well.

The plan for me is to leave on Thursday and be at the show bright & early on Friday. I have a few things I'll be looking for but if anyone is looking for something special I'll be glad to keep an eye peeled.

I'll have my laptop and computer access, it's likely I can post notes on Friday night, in this thread.

And Bill... I'll buy you a Whiskey sour if I run into you on friday!

Me me me me me!!! I'll be going over there thursday night at midnight, driving all the way there, hitting the show up, and coming home that night on the 17th. I'm gonna be at the door waiting for the deals to happen! I wanted a calguns shirt before I went, but I can't seem to get a hold of one.

If the AT&T union doesn't strike I will most likely hit the show for a couple of hours on Friday or Saturday.
