Default BLM shooting areas?

I went on to the BLMs web site trying to find where we can target shoot and all I could find was where we can't shoot. I'm looking for areas close to the banning pass(palm springs, idyllwild, forest falls).
Thanks

Whether or not you get a location from someone here, you should walk into your local BLM office. They'll help you out. Maps, directions, etc.

I hate how the BLM website is so vague on shooting areas. You would think that they'd list areas that are frequented by rec. shooters

Have you done that before? Are they usually pretty helpful?

Read the box on this page that talks about blm land. Basically everything other than what they mention is all legal to shoot on. Order a map from the BLM office, just give them a call. They are 4 bucks each and they ship them out extremely fast. There is a ton of areas to shoot out in the area you mentioned.

I found the people at the Ridgecrest BLM office very helpful. They told me about Jawbone Canyon and I got a BLM map while I was there.

The Hollister BLM was very helpful to me a couple months ago. They gave me a packet full (at least 3/4 of a pound) of maps (very low quality) and info, but the best part, a fire permit which is good until Dec 31 2009.

Ocatillo Wells. Take split Mt Rd out to the train tracks. about 3 miles in you will see some culverts to let water pass go through thoughs and you should see a large 15ft high berm. That is where i shot on BLM land.

They really need to update the BLM website. Its so old school looking and so hard to navigate and find things your looking for.
