Default FN Mauser M1930 ABL, 1951, .30-06 Springfield; Ishapore 2A1, 1968, 7.62 x 51mm.

FN Mauser M1930 ABL, .30-06 Springfield (Belgian Army Mauser with King Leopold crest, manufactured in 1951).

This is the only Mauser type military rifle that I own, but it is a beauty. Manufactured in 1951 by Fabrique Nationale D´Armes de Guerre, Herstal-Belgique. The rifle is designed for and chambered in .30-06 Springfield, utilizing the M1903 stripper clip. It shoots as good as it looks.

Ishapore 2A1, 7.62 x 51mm, manufactured in 1968. The design of this rifle is based upon the Lee-Enfield Rifle No.1 Mk III (SMLE Mk III).

That's a nice one!. Actually it's correct model designation is a FN Model 1930.

Interestingly the Belgian military referred to these rifles as the Model 1924, however that was simply a designation made of convenience and did not reflect changes made at FN.

Your "L" crested 1951 dated Leopold III rifle is less common than the later "B" crested Baudouin 1952 dated rifles.

24,000 of these Model 1930 rifles were produced at FN in 1951, 52 and 53 for the Belgian military as a "stop gap" until SAFN (FN-49) rifle production could be brought on line.

If you look for the correct bayonet for your rifle. It's the Model 1924 type.

The Baudouin rifles had the below crest.

Default FN Mauser M1950; additional information.

FN Mauser M1950; additional information:

Commonly referred to as the M1950 FN Mauser, the original design is the M1930, with the 1948 modifications (double broached bolt lug-ways). First delivered to the Dutch government and KNIL/ONB as the 7.9mm model (rifles and gendarmerie carbines) and to Israel as the 'IDF' 7.9mm rifle, in 1950 FN changed the caliber at manufacture, to 7.62x63mm (US .30 cal., i.e., .30-06 Springfield), for supply to:

The Belgian Armed Forces (Armee Belge-Belgische Leger--ABL),
The Belgian Congo (Force Publique--FP)
The Luxembourg Army (Armee Luxembourgeoise -- AL);

Export sales to Colombia--rifle and carbine (crest);
Haiti –Rifle ('Armee d'Haiti');
Morocco—Carbine (no marking).
Also for 'off the shelf' sales as required.

Later deliveries to Morocco were in 7.62x51mm Nato.

Actually recent research has revealed FN did not use the designation "Model 1950". All of the rifles you mentioned were actually FN model 1930 rifles.

That "model 1950" was determined to be a "collector derived" designation and never used by FN to designate earlier pre war rifles and carbines from post war production.. In addition the term "double broach cut" has also been re-defined to be "horizontal" broach cut....The different machining steps did not change how FN referred or designated different models.

The author Anthony Vanderlinden has done exhaustive and through research into FN rifle production, and recently published the book "FN Mauser Rifles. Arming Belgium and the World" in 2016.

He was granted access to FN's production records and related materials, and provided many of these documents in his publication.

If you are "into" FN rifles I really suggest you get a copy. The information is exceptional, and well delivered.

The Dutch also bought FN model 30's, however in the carbine configuration. The rifles were for their "municipal Police Corps" and are marked GEM. POL. on the right side of their receivers. The Dutch crest "Crown" J is similar to the Belgian crest.

Pic below.

I also have a un-marked FN model 1930 Carbine in 7.62x51mm in my collection this carbine has a FAL type grenade launcher attached to it's muzzle. These so called "Moroccan" carbines have been attributed to production for Morocco, however there has not been any definitive proof that in fact they were produced for Morocco. No pic yet of the Moroccan carbine.

Any Mauser collector would love to have that in their collection. And it is in a common, easy to find caliber no less.

I hate when I get the gallery section confused with the exchange section!
