Default Hello...

Hello Ladies...

No one has posted here in the last two months. Maybe that's good -- if we are assimilated and working all the non-gender-specific threads.

Either way, in those last two months, I hope your Thanksgiving and Christmas were fun, filling, and safe. Looking barely forward: Happy New Year!!!

Default Yes, I do shoot like a girl

[COLOR="black"]Hi Kate!

My husband suggested I connect with the ladies here, since women are better shooters than men.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas. I got a new (old) rifle and I got the gear I need to shoot a black powder rifle I got a few months ago. I used to be a rifle instructor with Project Appleseed until I contracted West Nile virus in August of 2012. I almost died, but women who shoot are tough. I don't have full use of my right arm, but I can hit steel all day using a bag.

Enough about me, let's get this party started!

~ Jackie

don't let the forum die from lack of use. every woman should check in at least once a month or so just to let us men know you have not abandoned us.

Hi GunTradersWife!

Is it me, or are forums weird? They are not intuitive to me, I struggle to find what I want to find, etc.

OK, we are here now! What do you like to shoot? We are going to explore black powder shooting next. We are told it's addicting, will report back on that.

My nickname is 22calgal because I do love to shoot .22's!

Hello!!
Yes they are not user friendly for sure. I didn’t even get anything saying there was a new post here.
22’s are awesome! I shoot anything I can! Lol
Definitely report back on the black powder! That is something I’ve never shot for sure!

I signed up to get an email whenever someone responds to this thread. My husband showed me that little trick!

I agree, I shoot anything and everything. I got West Nile virus in 2012, and because of that I don't have full use of my right arm any more. I just use a bag to prop my arm up. I almost died from the West Mile, so I am grateful to be alive and grateful to be able to shoot!

Default Hi Ladies

I guess I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but I'll do my best to help keep our forums alive.

To subscribe to get emails, just go to "Thread Tools" at the top of the page. You can subscribe and choose how often to get emails. I had to ask my husband about this, I swear, I do not get forums!!

I got a new pistol yesterday, life is good! Well, I will is 10 damn ridiculous days anyway!

Good morning, Ladies!

I think we women aren't on this forum as much because we are so busy. It's a woman thing.

It's nice to connect with other women shooters, though!

Wasn't the rally in Virginia AWESOME?

Yep, yep, and yep. It's a woman thing. I added two more to my collection, unfortunately, I have not been able to shoot either one. I got a Bersa Firestorm .380, love the way it feels in my hand. The other one is a Ruger SR9C. I'm hoping as soon as I'm in between classes I'll get a chance.

Woo-hoo!! We have a .380, it's a great little pistol. Anything Ruger rocks in my world!

We belong to West End Gun club, so that's where we shoot. Where do you ladies shoot?

The folding revolver. It folds up and has a carrier so that when it's in the carrier, it looks like a folding knife.

Happy New Year Ladies....
I’m new to Cal Guns... though not new to shooting. Years ago I was married to an active duty Marine who was also Armory Chief. So he took me shooting mainly Sig, Glock and Beretta. Now I’m trying to get back to shooting and buying my own weapon. So I was browsing the CG marketplace and asked a few questions. And one guy private messaged me saying I should stop embarrassing myself by the question. Wow... not very friendly of him, was it? As a Mom, I always tell my kids that there are no stupid questions. Anyway... I’m glad to have found the women’s forum.

Welcome IP.

Your question would have been better to have been asked under "General Gun Discussions" rather than a thread where someone is trying to sell his gun.

But generally many of us cut the new folks some slack.

Hi Garv! Actually, the seller was selling a KAHR CW9, and I was told most KAHR slides are a bit sticky, especially in the smaller pistols such as the CW9. So was asking seller if this was the case. Totally related to the thread and didn’t think it was so dumb lol. Thanks for the welcome. I guess I just have to get used to the gun crowd

Hi Inked Poet!

Whoever sent you the message to you was a creep. How can anyone learn without asking questions?

Have you decided what to buy yet? If there is a range near you, you may want to go there and rent some guns before you buy. I can tell if I like a gun when I pick it up. If it feels right, then I am good to go. It's like trying on a pair of shoes, I want my firearm to feel good and be comfortable to handle!

Good luck, keep us posted.

A BIG +1 on Try Before You Buy.

Unless of course you want to buy a lot of guns...

So, renting at a range or finding a friend who likes hers and trying it are great ideas.

Now if only ranges "rented" the 10,000 holsters you can buy. Then I would not have that box of un-used holsters...

I read the posts, not a dumb question at all, but questioning the quality of a gun in a thread where someone is selling it could dissuade other buyers.
Generally that is not done in the Marketplace.
My opinion FWIW.

sounds like I don't want to buy anything in the forums here then, if it's "buyer beware" eek

From the Marketplace Rules:

2) Buyers and Sellers assume any and all risks in any transaction.
(snip) CAVEAT EMPTOR applies here.

10) Thread-crapping.
Commenting on a post in a negative manner, called 'thread-crapping', is not allowed. (snip)

11) Discussion and Commentary in For Sale Threads is to be kept to a minimum.
Posting comments such as "Nice gun, wish you were closer", "That's a great deal", "good luck with sale", etc. should be strictly limited. This is a community and wanting to comment positively on a sale or item is an understandable desire. (snip)

Just trying to help.

Nope.

I know better than to even attempt something like that in this forum.

Just highlighting some things that relate to concerns/comments discussed above.

Thanks Garv. Being somewhat a newbie, and certainly a newbie to Kahr (as I said, I’m more familiar with Glock, Sig and Beretta), I was hoping for him to correct my misconception and tell me how great his gun works. In other words, he was trying to sell his gun so SELL it to me. Anyway, I’ll look for brand new ones on roster from Turners who give good sale and great customer service, rather than attitude. :-)

Hi Ladies,

I'm not much of a handgun shooter (yet).

I am an active Instructor/Shoot Boss with Project Appleseed up in NorCal (Sacramento, Redding areas). Yes I'm the one who posted the dates for upcoming 2020 events.

I've been shooting for about 12 years (my where has the time gone).

22calgal, it's great to see you on here!!! The CalGals from opposite ends of the state!!!

My husband got me started shooting with a .22 rifle all those years ago. He's great at helping me find the firearm that fits me.

Have fun learning. If you want to learn to be better with a rifle, come give Project Appleseed a try... appleseedinfo.org
