Seriously, I make very good money, I can't afford one of those, well I can, but my wife would be pissed. How does a 18 yr old flipping burgers living with GM afford an $1800 dollar AR?

In this day and age, the offers start arriving as soon as kids turn 18 with $100K limits and 0%-APR for first 12 months (albeit, 28%-APR after that).
Yet, he may also have been stealing from Grandma, which I think was more likely the story. ---

If you're working for six months minimum wage at and saving it all you're not worried about the future all you need is ther money for rifles magazines and eotech. How do kids afford cars?

The guy couldn't finish HS, you think he had the discipline to save $4k for 2 ARS, Eotech and Ammo? Not that it isn't unrealistic but I work with troubled teens, they aren't that focused.

No - that would apply if I said he was trading stock options, shorting SNOW, SNAP, and CVNA, sold off all his long-term REITs, closed out his IRA, divested his portfolio of his Bitcoin holdings from 2012, and procured a royalties deal on his TikTok/Instagram life-coaching feeds.
I'm sure that was it. ---

My Great nephew started working at In N Out at 16. Just before his 18th birthday he was making $19.65 an hour.
I put him on 3 of my CC as an authorized user. They reported my credit to his credit report. By the time he turned 18 he had a credit report going back for 23 years and had a 725 FICO score. His first CC came one month after his birthday, $5K credit line. A month later he was approved for a car loan, $13K. He's now 19 1/2 and has two CC's both with $5K limits and a 770 FICO score. I apologize, be just said it was $15.00 an hour and a $7.50 bonus per hr on the graveyard shift that he works. I really could careless. I keeps trying to beat into his head that school is more important. Doing something you like.. I don't recall any CCs apps coming for him. He did do some kind of credit build through the credit Union. He had his heart set on buying a motorcycle......for about 5 minutes...

Depends how resolved he was to do this. Money is immaterial if you have no future.

I’m sure they’ll look into the purchases, how they were made, and who funded them.
What I’d really like to know is how the story originally reported him with a handgun and possibly a rifle. Was there a handgun? How was the story so wrong in the beginning? Did it not fit the narrative?

as soon as I got my driver license my mother added me as an authorized user on her credit card, and I got one with my name on it. She got the bill of course, but it was there (in my case, for emergencies and building credit history). Anybody can have a legit card and blow it on stupid stuff they shouldn't, especially 18 year olds. Plus, paying things off is no concern if you don't expect to be around for it. If his mom is really a druggy and he was the kind of kid not to graduate high school, you can come up with a couple grand slinging drugs on the side.

And, just because someone doesn't finish high school doesn't mean that they aren't smart. My brother is the biggest waste of space and when he was young scored 169 on the IQ test. I'm the dumbest in the family, I only scored 161. Sent from my BE2026 using Tapatalk |

lots of puzzle pieces missing from this story. Reports I was reading yesterday were saying how broke this losers family was and how people made fun of him for being so broke. I too wondered how he was able to purchase some pretty expensive rifles, optics, ammo and armor if he was in such a bad financial family situation.
I'd like to hear more about how the story has changed from yesterday an elite BPS agent took him out- to this loser holed up having his way in that classroom for an hour this morning- to now 90 min before LE snuffed him this afternoon. I sure hope this doesn't turn out like the Broward Co SO response at Parkland HS.

Scumbag was living rent free, and they bought him food, cloths, etc
If he saved $300-400 per week / or $400 + he just needs a few months to afford it. Maybe that's why grandma wanted to kick him out.

It really sounds like this guy was just a typical loser who grabbed a gun and decided to go out in a literal blaze of glory. he flat out went on social media and said what he was gonna do. At that point that school should of been locked down. I do a lot of security and life safety integration these days. These mass shootings are starting to make our industry start looking into doing mass annunciation and integration of warning and safety systems. What we also need is more cops in schools. i know thats a sore subject with people but getting rid of cops isnt the answer. |
