HK MP5 22lr new release

Have that same rail on my mp5 since the first production of these mp5 was made along with a vortex sparc. Never once had an issue with it. I too couldn't justify paying $50+ for a picatinny rail mount for a 22. At the time amazon did not have them so I went to the next best thing, airsoft store!

Anybody able to find the 10 round mags or have any for sale? I placed a backorder with primary arms but they have yet to ship out. I’m dreading the idea of having to stop shooting to reload the same mag over and over.

The 416-22 is a rimfire rifle so those features are ok combined with a removable mag.

I have the pistol version in 22lr (I don't live in CA). But I'm moving to CA later. My question is do you think I can move to the state with this pistol as is or do I have to figure out a way to modify it? Do I also have to modify the mag to 10 rounds only?

I'm thinking in my mind this would also apply to AR pistols as well. But I don't want to give up my HK 22lr MP5 pistol. I love that thing. Thank you. -Z

As explained above, it is a pistol that has AW features as defined by the CA legislature. That's a no-no.

You would have to look at the specific features of your other AR pistols. Looks like your HK 22lr MP5 pistol is not moving...

AR pistols as well as this MP5 22LR pistol must be fixed mag, with the mag locked into the receiver in such a way that the firearm must be disassembled to remove the mag.

There is a mag lock device for MP5 9mm, I have no idea if it would work in the 22LR

Thank you for the reply. So theoretically I install a mag lock & I also block the mag to only accept 1 round, would that make the pistol a single shot? Or would that be toting the line since the actual pistol is still technically semi auto? Since it's a blowback I'm wondering if I can change out the main spring to something heavier so the 22 won't be able to cycle. However be able to manually cycle the action by hand with the lever.

Just an idea I have yet to take the pistol apart. Any input would be greatly appreciated. -Z

The simplest solution is to buy the rifle version, that's legal here as is, you would only need 10 round mags or block the ones you have (which is very easy with them). If you really want the pistol, then it needs to be mag locked, but you can still have 10 round mags.

There is no reason to use a mag lock and make it single shot. It can be mag locked semi auto with 10rd mag.

If it has a fixed mag it can have a threaded barrel. A fixed mag is the answer to AW pistol problems. And in the case of this type of pistol which takes a mag outside the grip, it is the best answer.

Other pistols with a threaded barrel that use a mag inside the grip (like a Mk23 for example) have better options than a fixed mag. Although pin/weld an end cap is very low on the list of options for most guns of this type, because that typically will capture the barrel forever into the slide. Better is a replacement barrel without threads, and if that is not possible then turn down the threads. Some gun designs like Ruger Mk series and 1911 can get away with pin/weld end cap though.

Does anyone that bought theirs have buyers remorse? I haven't really ever bought a plinking gun before, I can't tell if its just going to sit in my closet or if its worth the trouble of trying to find it.

No buyer’s remorse for me. I have the first release A5 variant and is my first rifle. Though I continue to contemplate getting more mags as I only have 2.

You won’t regret buying one. If you do, selling it in the marketplace would be relatively easy.
