Membership Date: Mar 2011 Courses Taken: 2DDH - Oct 2011 Next Course: 4DDH -Spring 2012? Comments: In process to upgrade to a Diamond + Alaska membership. I was impressed with the facility and training provided. I am, however, disappointed on how long my initial membership took to be processed. It took 2 months for me to get info on the memberships I bought. I emailed to assign 2 memberships and that took 2-3 months to complete. I understand things can get busy, but when you run a business I would expect better service and response time. I hope my upgrade doesn't take more than 6 weeks. I'm also still waiting on my 'free' gun. I submitted my paperwork in late August. I've had to ask several times for status and each time, I'm told it will take another 8 weeks. That does not instill a lot of confidence on the how things are managed on the back end. |

As far as the bonus guns go, there are several factors I believe they're not being forthright about. People are starting to receive their guns but they seem to be trickling out. Based on the numbers from the last two big membership drives that had bonus guns, I'm betting that the amount of guns they have to move numbers somewhere in the low six-digits. Methinks that Naish doesn't have enough liquid capital to move that many guns all at once and that is why they're taking so long. I submitted my paperwork this summer and still haven't received mine. However, several on the FS forums have received theirs after submitting paperwork in early 2011 (Jan/Feb). The "6-8 weeks" they're telling us is just to keep us from jamming up their email and phone asking where the guns are. The short version: be patient, they'll get there eventually (though not likely in 6-8wks).

Diamond + Alaska
Membership Type: Diamond + Alaska
Membership Date: Early 2011 Courses Taken: None Next Course: I really don't know if I'll ever visit Front Sight physically. You see, the TSA stories I'm hearing are really freaking me out. I live in Puerto Rico. They recently detained senator Rand Paul. None of this is constitutional yet, they do it anyway. I do not wish to go through their cancer causing machines nor be groped. If the TSA is ever removed from the airports, I'll definitely pay Front Sight a visit! Go Ron Paul!!! Comments: I believe in the Front Sight vision and the second amendment right to bear arms. I, also, believe in making a small profit and putting it into silver(real money). So, I've invested in dozens of 4-day handgun certificates and Diamond + Alaska memberships. So far, I've made a pretty good return on my money while, at the same time, supporting the Front Sight vision. If anyone is interested in a 4-day certificate or Diamond + Alaska membership, I can be reached at: BANNED God bless America and please god, preserve the CONSTITUTION! Without it, we've got nothing. Well, we've got TYRANNY(not cool). Last edited by Turbinator; 01-24-2012 at 5:33 PM.. |

Just got back from the 4ddhg and had fun. Weather was not the greatest, 80mph measured wind gusts one day, and cold and rainy another, but overall was a good experience. I'll be back. My shooting was good enough for DG but was too slow on a couple malfunction clears.

Just finished the 3rd day of their Def Handgun course. Looking fwd to tomorrow.
NOT relishing the drive home (have a 24 hr shift starting 0800 on Friday in SF). I'm going through their recommended amounts of ammo as I've been shooting with both groups whenever someone else decides to take a break. Drink LOTS of water, guys. Even with the cool weather, it's easy to get dehydrated.

I'd say that the "Don't want anything to do with them!" option includes a lot of people who've never been there. That's not equivalent to "dissatisfied," which implies having had an actual experience to be satisfied or dissatisfied with.

Not a member, but a frequent student and not too shabby a shooter if I do say so myself. Had a wonderful time each time I have gone. Would go back in a heart beat (I'm the guy buying up your return student certs). The training level has remained pretty steady, especially considering the drastic increase in students. The facilities have kept up with the increased pace, and all the instructors that I have had have been wonderful. I have noticed less doting on me, but that has more to do with my not needing it as much as I used to while my fellow students needed it more. II still get plenty of attention from the instructors and I still get a massive leap in ability after each 4 day course. Can't complain.
All that said, I had expected to see the houses go up by now. I don't get why it is not a full fledged resort community by now like it was originally envisioned. But the school itself is wonderful. Why am I not a member given the recent affordable membership package offers? As often as I train there I also train at other schools. I want to float from school to school. Had I planned on building a home there (when they were still talking about that) I would have become a member. But for training only, it makes more sense for me to buy a cert as needed, especially since I need the advanced courses at this point - and those dirt cheap memberships only included the courses I had already mastered. Taking them a couple more times wouldn't hurt, and would certainly help, but at some point I would tire of them and want the more advanced stuff, without the more advanced price. 1) One of my classmates sold 7 Diamond memberships to other classmates for $500 each. That seems to be the going rate there although I heard prices up to $795. 2) My younger son did the 4 Day Youth Safety where he got to fire a full auto Uzi, Glock 19, .22 rifle, Shotgun and Archery. Best part was I did not have to pay for any ammo! He said that all the staff was great and coming from him, that was a big compliment. They take youths from 5 to 15yrs but only 12 and up can shoot. 3) I spoke to the Instructors at length and they all were very positive and treated well by Front Sight. There was no low pay, low morale type mentality shown. Very professional. 4) The computerized registration (myfrontsight.com) works great. Online registration was straightforward, first day check-in was fast, the report is real time and it had my class results the following day. This will help with the large classes this coming spring time. 5) The Pro Shop was doing booming business. People were buying gear, hats, sweatshirts, jackets, etc. Lots of rentals and gunsmithing (sights/gun mods) upgrades as well. The new ammo supply, Stock Pile Defense was very competitively priced. I was tempted to buy ammo to bring home. 6) The food at the on site vendor Beach Cafe was good. You can order on-line or that morning. We ordered their box lunches the first day, then tried the hotel (Best Western) box lunch and went back to their box lunch as it was much better. Great mochas and smoothies as well. Already making plans to go back next month or so for the Practical Rifle course. |
