Canned beef
So I found this at my local liquidator store(place is awesome for prepping). I couldn't believe my eyes on the price, so I read the label and said yup, so I made quick vid:
https://youtu.be/SrTReImieXI I have some Keystone products but they cost me too much to open for vid. UPDATE 9/22/20:Back in stock at Just Bargins in Colton. Saw about 36 cases. Manufacture date 8/20 Last edited by kingazteca; 09-22-2020 at 5:57 AM.. Reason: update |

My cans of the Keystone had about the same amount of solid-fat, but less liquid. Same 2 ingredients in the 4 cans of the 28 oz ground beef before Amazon went whacko, and discontinued selling it... 2 of the cans were dented, as is typical with Amazon cans, so I burned those as some taco meat in the following week, or two. It was good, but a little mushier than fresh ground beef, maybe because it is theoretically pressure cooked int eh can?
The kids said it was definitely "different" than fresh ground beef, but we all ate it happily, before it went bad. Corned beef is another option, and not expensive right now, even if an import, @ $4.88/12oz can, Walmart. Hormel chili (no beans) is still only like <$16/8-pack on Amazon, but they came up from like <$13/8-pack recently. Mahatma Rice is still a good prince, and in stock at Walmart $10.48/20lbs. Walmart ships 2-day with $35+ orders... ANY good-sale canned good items still fly off the shelves, as there is always a section picked clean, and it seems to rotate locations at my local grocer, but at least the canned goods isle is mostly packed with canned goods... now. All WE needed in the canned goods isle while everyone was standing 6-in-a-line was some veggies, and I did get 2-4 cans of clam chowder, there was plenty of that when the store was picked mostly-clean for some reason. TP, Paper towels, and even picnic napkins were GONE from shelves, I just had a carry-basket and looked at everyone who weren't preppers at all, clearly they all looked panicked. Oh, hey check to make sure there is no recall on yours?:
https://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/portal...2-2020-release Hahaa! Those cans are selling on eBay right now for $20/can... OR $30 for 2 in a non-label can, but printed. Last edited by the86d; 09-22-2020 at 9:06 PM.. |

Buy extra, ship it on eBay for double what you paid, if it was clearance?
Canned meats are going fro a premium right now... I personally am thinking about paying a premium depending on what it is. I never think I have enough canned meat. |

WOW, canned beef seems to be on the price up-AND-UP right now... or sold out in MANY places...
Is that what is happening to the price of fresh beef in the stores too? I don't know, as I do not normally buy beef, especially in the steak variety, as we do a lot of ground turkey, and such. Canned beef might be the new TP?!?!?!? |

I thought about it but then I would be denying someone else from buying they only have so much on had. Maybe I can trade one of my cases for something else later if things get bad.

Just got an 8-Pack of Hormel Chili... for ~$3 more than the last year I have been buying them at...
I DO recall, at the beginning of this, at a small local mom-and-pop Mexican restaurant that there was a ~$2 up-charge over menu prices for anything beef, and this was WAY in the beginning, like March-April. Interesting progression... |

How much per can? Case? Any Limit?

Went down and grabbed two cases. This product was located in two spots so there may be more than you had counted. There seemed to be plenty left. Gotta say, be careful buying other items in the store, noticed quite a few out-of-code products by several months being sold... Pay attention.

I did not know Taco Bell sold canned refried beans. Kinda scary.

Had some of this at a friends house , it's lightly seasoned so you need to dress it up. It can be used for more than burritos. Ended up grabbing 3 to add to my cans when I saw it at Costco. Comes in 3lbs and lasts 2 years as far as date on pkg. PRICEY online but $9.99 at Costco.

Some of the best tasting... I know that's surprising hahah. I like the Rosarita's "No Fat Green Chile Lime" also.
Took a while to try them because I thought they would be weird but a few people recommended them to me and now I usually pay more for them. |

If you haven't tried it, take a 28 ounce can of ground beef, heat it in a skillet with one or two cans of Campbell's Cream Mushroom soup, eat over med grain rice. Add mixed veggies, or onions, or sour cream optional. I'd make that with canned beef if TEOWAKI or if Tuesday... but prefer fresh ground beef from the freezer.

That's a killer deal OP. I've bought the Keystone canned meats before, but typically buy the Costco canned Roast Beef and Chicken. They run sales on the chicken time to time, but i can't remember seeing the roast beef on sale. In fact, it's been out of stock for quite some time at my local Costco, but just saw it in stock a couple days ago and picked up 3 packs.
Great score on those large cans at $1.99 each! |
