16yd Trap, yes. 27yd handicap Trap, no.
Most shotgun patterns have a slightly (at a minimum) hot core, if you center the shot the bird will break. With a centered shot a cylinder should be good out to 35 ~ 40 yards.
I've seen a 100yd crosser broken with a cylinder bore

Could very well have been. It was at Moore-N-Moore, the guy was surprised he hit it, then he realized he didn't even have a choke in his gun. Either way, it broke

PS: I hit it, but I had an IMOD in my gun, would have used a FULL but I didn't have one at the time.

No real added elevation, on that shot the bird and shot dropped at the same rate. The lead looked like a bus + a car... LOL
Cory told me he'd set it up again when he had 4 traps on all stations, he does now. But he said he was thinking about a Teal instead of the crosser.

Default Week Day Shoot

Impressive: "Cancelling doctor's appointment. Going to shoot."

I am afraid that I would be a hindrance to the shoot, since I have never shot trap.

Weekday shoot is a great idea. Will get some experience under my belt and try to join you later.

Yes, with the handicap of 20 birds I actually hit 28 out of 25. Seriously though it was really fun and it is a challenge with the .410... Skeet wise it's so fun to shoot. Just like shooting a 22LR. LOL.

Well wife said GTFO, so I made the most of it. One round of trap, 2 rounds of 5 stand, and 4? rounds of skeet. Then drove to over and dropped $400 at Phillips wholesale.

Best weather of the year to date. Good day.

100lbs #9 shot, 8lbs Red Dot, 1000 primers, Mec bottle funnel.

I had a great time today. Maybe more weekday therapy sessions in order.

What hulls and wads are you using?

7/8oz, AA hulls, ClaybusterWAA12L clone grey wads. Those are what came with the equipment and seems to work pretty good. Speed, dunno.

Yeah - the few times I've shot during the week were magical - no crowds, casual pace, no tactifools...

Looking forward to the next opportunity, but not likely for a couple of months anyway.

Glad you all had a good time.

Still bastards though.

How many grains of powder?

16.5 = 1200fps @ 7900psi
17.5 = 1250fps @ 8600psi
18.5 = 1300fps @ 9300psi

PS: I guess I won't have to worry about you picking up the hulls I want...

PPS: what reloader did you get?

Actually I've been reloading since July, but when I shoot a tournament, I shoot factory at the moment. I'm still experimenting.

I'm using the GC hull
CB1100-12 wad
Cheddite 209 primer
18.2gr Clay Dot
1oz 7.5 Eagle Shot

Bought in bulk I can load a box for about $4.85. It's slightly cheaper than the Herters I used to buy, and when I do my part, they hit hard.

Speaking of reloading...I need to load some for saturday

PS: Right now I have enough supplies to load around 6k.

Current recipe:

GC/STS
CB1100
Cheddite 209
E3 19.0gr
1OZ 7.5/8.0 Eagle Shot

Probably darn close to what you have. LOL

Yeah red Winchester works well for me. And those can with the package.

The best I can measure is 17 grains. But the recoil is a bit anemic so I am guessing is a tad lower than that. The previous owner had it setup for skeet. I did not change a thing and they break clays. I did weigh everything to make sure I did not blow up. No more welding or grinding at home either.

The reloaders are MEC 600jr. I never had any intention to reload but was getting nervous about buying 1oz #9 low recoil shells for skeet. When these were offered to me I only wanted the 12 gauge but was forced to take the whole lot or nothing.

I use Remington hulls also, Downrange Remington replacement 8 petal wads, 17.7 grains of tightgroup, cheddite primers, for about 1250 fps.
