AZ does not accept online training from any source.
Unless you have a pending trip to AZ, just wait for the CA permit.
Or to Nevada? Or any of the other 31 states where your AZ permit would be accepted.

A data point for the thread:

10/1, application mailed to AZ DPS
10/13, application returned due to being incomplete
10/15, application remailed to AZ DPS
10/25, permit received by mail.

In AZ you don't need a permit to carry open or concealed. Just read up on the no-carry locations (most no weapons signs have force of law here).
I did the online hunter safety course then the in person class. Not sure if it's the quickest & cheapest, but it's faster than CA was.

^^^^ Yep.
Hunter safety or Basic Handgun if you don't have a DD214.

Hunter's Safety is probably the cheapest as it is usually around $50-$60 (assuming you do online first plus the follow-up). If you go the traditional route, it is around $30, but a 10 hour class.

There are often cheaper ways than Basic Pistol. All you need is a certificate from an NRA certified instructor for a handgun safety class. Most NRA certified instructors (including myself) have classes that are cheaper than the basic handgun class.

The reason being is that the NRA basic pistol class is required to be an 8 hour class and has some material costs associated with it. I have some 4 hour classes and even some two hour classes that also have less material costs. For instance, my Utah CCW class (which also satisfies the Arizona training) is $74.99 for Calguns members and it a 4 hour class.

Also, keep in mind that if you are just rushing your out of state CCW because of your trip to Arizona, Arizona is constitutional carry and no permit is actually required to carry open or concealed in Arizona. However, please keep in mind that there are more restrictions with constitutional carry like school zones, restaurants with alcohol, etc.

Yep... and while basic pistol is a quick and inexpensive way to satisfy the requirements, I have a feeling that most people in process for the California CCW (particularly OC and Riverside) are already beyond that level.
Seriously, the best $100 that I've ever spent on "gun stuff" was the NRA Defensive Handgun class at Apple Valley Gun Club.
However, to rely on that for AZ/Florida is touchy, because unlike Basic Pistol, it's not a "guaranteed-pass if you aren't a bonehead"
I think only half of my class passed.

So for training requirements, I'd still recommend something more basic that's a "sure thing" (if you aren't a bonehead)... but I really wish that everyone issued a CCW would take at the very least the Defensive Handgun class.

Mailed my application off on Friday, November 30 and received my Permit Card today Monday, 12/10. Nice little plastic card.

Wish my IA gave plastic cards instead of the paper.

Dont know why I waited so long but I finally requested my application and got it in a few days. I made an appointment for the fingerprinting at a ups store but my question is about filling out the card. Can I fill it out before the fingerprinting or do I leave it blank until my prints are done?

It’s OK to fill out prior. Actually most will want it filled out before they will roll prints.

Mailed my AZ CCW application on 12-31-2018.
Recieved my AZ CCW permit on 01-09-2019.

AZ approval letter indicates it was approved on 01-05-2019 and mailed on 01-07-2019.

Mailed mine yesterday, lets see how long it takes! For anyone whos thinking about using a ups store for fingerprinting, call them and see if they can even do it. My local store said they could (online) so I made an appointment and wasted a few days to find out they only do livescan and couldnt print them onto the cards. I did end up finding a little place that was doj approved and rolled with ink. She took her time with me and had me practice a few times to make sure we did it right

Took a class with Equip2Conceal on the 5th. It was about $70-$80 after I found some discounts.

Great entertaining and informative class, good instructor kept everyone's attention very well. I was impressed. I went into this expecting a total boring yawn of a presentation.

Got my fingerprints printed on the application card supplied by Equip 2 Conceal. Local live scan place at the community college district police did it for $20

Put everything in the provided envelope with $60 money order for the application and mailed on the 8th received my card on the 22nd with an expiration date of the 15th.

Quick and Easy!

Do we get to decide what kind of dna sample to send?

I can't imagine state employees will be thrilled with this bill, it likely won't get very much support. It probably has to do with that nurse that got the coma patient pregnant.

The linked article makes the connection to the Hacienda case as well. Am I wrong in reading that CCW would also require this?

Quote:
Connections to Hacienda case
The bill comes weeks after Phoenix police used DNA to tie nurse Nathan Sutherland to the alleged rape and impregnation of a patient at Hacienda HealthCare. Police collected DNA from male employees after the woman unexpectedly gave birth in December.

Nursing-care facility employees — like Sutherland — would have to submit their DNA under the proposed legislation. This could have expedited the Hacienda investigation and would assist with any similar cases in the future.

It's not clear whether the proposed legislation was crafted in response to this crime.

Livingston has not publicly explained the motivation behind the bill. He didn't respond to multiple calls from The Arizona Republic.

AZ CCW submitted application, fingerprint cards, and money order through the Post office on 3/2, received with a permit at my mailbox on 3/9.

So question. I can’t find my hunter certificate but I found an old hunting permit. I got my hunter CERT many moons ago.

Can I get a new current hunting permit to satisfy the training requirements? Or do I have to take a hunting class again?
