With all due respect, a Marlin 1894 is a piece of cake to do that to.

Besides, brand new shooters are better served learning their firearm and using iron sights.

We donít know what he owns.

And while I agree with the second point, thatís not the topic.

Thereís a time and place for taking your rifle apart the first time. The range isnít the place.

Only correcting your posted misinformation on the field strip of a Marlin 1894.

The bolt is easily removable.

Ahhh yes you can,, You take the lever pivot screw out and the lever comes out and then to bolt slides out the rear. This is covered in the Marlin Owners Manual as it is how you clean the barrel from the breech end.

It is only one screw and it ain't that hard.

If you have access to a metal plate target you can sight it in by aiming for the edge of the plate. Start at 9 o'clock , if it hits go to 3 o'clock edge. If it missed walk it in. Once it hits on both 9 and 3 o'clock edge move to 12 and 6 o'clock edge and walk in the one that misses. Once it's sighted in you should be able to hit all four edges. I do this all the time when I go shooting and want to check the sights. The metal plate gives you instant feedback on whether you hit or miss.
