Default Should I get this barrel swap?

I was talking to a gunsmith and he has a 300 savage barrel heíd install for $50 thatís including the barrel. Itís a custom barrel made from 3006 or something like that.

Iíd be replacing a pitted 7mm barrel small ring mauser w rounded rifling. Was kinda interested in a 45acp kit.

What do you guys think? Or should I go with surplus 308 and shoot low pressure? The 45 kit looks like a huge chunk of receiver is removed for the ejector which looks kinda ugly.
Basically I think itís a really good deal to get rebarreled in 300 savage cost wise vs any other option. Go for it?

300 Savage is a good choice for a SR mauser if you keep pressures reasonable. Downside is ammo is not near as plentiful as it once was. And it's spendy. For that price on a rebarrel, hard to pass up.

Tagging for good outcome of a "$50 for the job including the barrel" transaction...
I'm giving 1 for 5 odds on the barrel headspacing correctly.

They used to sell a prefit barrel made by Adams& Bennett for $75 brand new but they needed bluing.
Sounds like your gunsmith has a take off barrel he wants to use up.
