Going to try to book a spring bear hunt
Well my buddy from New Zealand wants to get up here to the US in May to try for a bear so I'm researching Idaho outfitters. Idaho has high success rates and some area allow two bears, with a high percentage of color phase bears.
New Zealand has no large predatory mammals except introduced pigs, dogs, cats and weasels (and humans) so he's pretty excited to go.

Too bad it's so hard to get tags for Kodiak bears and the hunts are so expensive (even DIY). Based on stories I've heard from my friends who have done several hunts in that area, you could be the predator, or you could be the prey. That would really get him excited! |

Beautiful country. That's where I hunt elk. Some of, if not the most demanding country I've ever hunted.

Check out Korell Outfitters. I hunted with them a few years ago and it's a great family-run operation. Incredible hounds, bears all over the place (and elk and grouse), lots of fun. Happy to answer any questions about my hunt with them.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into them, I have a list of outfitters that some people that I know have hunted with also so I have a lot of options.
I lived in Idaho Falls in the mid 1980s and did a lot of hunting in the lower half of the State.
