Default CALNRA/CRPA: Vote Pending on Lead Ban Expansion

CALNRA/CRPA: Vote Pending on Lead Ban Expansion
7/30/2009 - PLEASE DISTRIBUTE WIDELY

Vote Pending on Lead Ban Expansion

On August 6, the California Fish and Game Commission will be holding its final meeting to consider adoption of the Proposed Resident Small Game & Migratory Upland Game Lead Ban in the Condor Zone.

CRPA and NRA urge you to speak out now on the Lead Ammunition Ban issue. This might be your final opportunity to stop this lead ban proposal. By stopping the adoption of this proposed regulation, we might be able to halt the Lead Ammunition Ban expansion in California.

Refer to today's CAL-ERT for more information.

Refer to this page for updates, suggested action items, contact tools and information:

Please, folks - this is Pressure Season.

Apply the pain. Cellphone owners - take time from your snack/smoke/lunch break and call early and often. Emails and faxes help too.

Hopefully, everyone will get busy and call AND email the Fish and Game Commission on this important issue.

But, then again, it is always easier to sit back and complain "Why didn't the NRA do anything to stop them from banning .................??" etc. etc. etc.

To the rest of you who carry the weight for everyone (those who do make the calls and send the letters/emails) T H A N K Y O U ! ! !

You are appreciated in this fight to save of firearms freedoms.

Paul

Just to expand on this important issue a bit.

As Bill Wiese and the other Calgunners in attendance can tell you, the team led (personally) by Chuck Michel of Michel and Associates made their presentations in both written and verbal form and the points made could not be (reasonably) refuted.

In short, our team presented data to prove that the so-called "Church Study" was wrong when the authors/proponents claims that lead ammunition is the primary cause of lead poisoning in the few remaining California Condors. The Church Study was used as the primary reason/excuse for passing AB821 and the resulting regulations.

NRA California State Liaison Ed Worley and CRPA Governmental Relations Liaison Tom Pederson did fantastic jobs representing our associations in a very positive manner. Bill Gaines, representing the California Outdoor Heritage Association (aka COHA) also presented his thoughtful and rational positions quite well. Based upon these presentations, we should all be proud!

In short, today's vote was a victory for firearms owners, hunters, sportsmen, and (most of all) common sense.

Although it is now time to celebrate, we will not let our guard down. This effort has many more battles to come.

Thank you for all of your help.

Paul

"But wait, there's more!" Isn't that what they say on TV?

We all saw the "presenters" and they did a great job. But, as the late Paul Harvey used to talk about "the rest of the story" there is much more to this story. Much of it will never be spoken about in public, but an important part needs to be told now.

Because of scheduling allotments, speaking time was a critical factor at the CA Fish & Game Commission hearing. Time limits had been imposed on the presenters and the only way to receive an extra minute was to have another person "cede" their time to you. That extra minute made the maximum possible time for presentation four minutes each.

Four minutes does not seem like a lot of time, but when you only have three minutes to start with -- that extra minute means quite a bit. So, the presentation had to be planned-out in advance. And that's what we did.

But where would we get those extremely valuable minutes????

I gave my time to Ed Worley, other good folks in attendance gave their time to others on our team. We received time from COHA representatives and CALGUNNERS at the hearing so it was truly a team effort.

Without everyone doing their part and working together we could not have won. And don't forget all of those calls, letters, emails and faxes. They made a tremendous difference for our side.

So, as Mr. Harvey used to say on the radio, "Now you know, the rest of the story."

Thanks for being part of the team.

Paul

This goes to show how with deep preparation & skill we can beat the opposition. It helps when nationally-recognized experts are on our side.

I already knew we had a buncha smart guys in the room, but to see how well the presentation(s) were choreographed - esp in the face of very short time limits in part due to crowded F&GC agenda - was stunning.

Time limits were pressing so presentations had to be reduced to their core, and things had to be kept tight & concise.

[And one of the experts in our holster was the scientist involed in taking down the FBI ballistic lead matching 'evidence' (before this takedown, if dead guy had a lead mix somewhat matching that of the box of rounds on your shelf, the FBI'd say you were guilty of killing the dead guy. This was proved to be junk science and is no longer allowed.)]

But you feel damned good when you see a 4-1 vote against

Default Last Thanksgiving talk over LEAD!

HI,
I beliveve the hype over everything is bad for you has gone way beyond our reality, we have had Lead in our meat since it could br shot from a gun and I know ingested into our bodys?
Somehow we over the past 100 years have gone from the stone age to Man on the moon and Nukes we have gotten smarter, and in a blink of a eye over the timeline of time in general we are a pinhead in that line.
My big brother is a world reknown Microbiologist and also a MD he has his Phd in microbiology. Over the Thanksgiving Table I had to shoot fun of the mecury poisioning and the lead poisioning making the human's stupid. My brother and I bit split shot wheights when we where young fishing. I told him I guess it really mess you up David? He is all over the world giving Lectures and also is a Lab Tech at Stanford now. Lead in food has been out there since the metal was added to the gun? Pewter has lead in it, correct?
daily serving plate's. Duhh?? Whats up Man?? Cheech and Chong will be a real brain washer, Legalize the dope, there is a real brain killer. I used to be there. I woke up and didn't want to be a couch potato! Years ago.
