I'm all for Anaheim (A tad biased).

But there are some good places in Burbank and I know of one I like in LB (555 on Oceanside).

Long Beach would be really good, I'm sure some TMLLP folks will stop by if it's close.

There is always one of the many Gun Club Houses. Inlands even has a working kitchen and may be an easier drive for the San Diego area.

Guys, this couldn't be LESS 'off-topic' how about a move to 2a or "current legal cases" subforum?

I think we need to start talking dates. I need to plan at least a month in advance since Im in norcal and will have to request time off work. Time off is pretty easy to get since Im in managment, but I still need to let the owner know.

I live in Riverside and work in Irvine. It can be hard for me to get into the LA area on a weekday, so I'd prefer a weekend. I sure hope I'll be able to make it to this, because I'd like to meet any of the NorCal Calgunners who can make it! I went to the earlier little Matt party at the BBQ place in Pasadena (?), and that was my first chance to meet any other Calgunners.

Did we ever decide when and where this was going to take place?

I think we should reserve a space at East LA College and bring in a caterer!

Okay, it looks like there is some interest...

Sorry about dropping the ball on this, I was out of action with the flu for the last week.

We have three airports that can work for our Northern friends, Burbank, Long Beach and Orange County.

Orange County (John Wayne) Airport has JT Schmid’s about 15 miles away, roughly 25-45 minutes depending on traffic. It looks very nice and has hosted NRA events before. Price range looks to be a bit in the upper range, think $60+ per person based on menu.

Long Beach Airport is fairly central, I'm not familiar with the Long Beach area and haven't seen too much in the 'suggested restaurant' dept. so I'm not sure what's around there. Any LB locals have suggestions and info?

Burbank (Bob Hope) Airport has Sportsman's Lodge about 8 miles away, roughly 15- 25 minutes depending on traffic. It also looks nice and hosts parties and events and has a hotel right on site. Price range is moderate, think $25-$45 per person.

Remember we will potentially have people coming in from as far away as San Diego and Santa Barbara and further north.

Hopefully we'll get some input from the Long Beach Calgunners so we can have a full set of options to choose from.

Right by TMLLP is the Rockbottom Brewery Seating for 60 for dinner (reserved party/group), great beer, and good food. Cost should be under $30 for dinner and 3 beers, Lunch and 1 beer is usually under $15.

I've been to the Rockbottom Brewery in Bethesda, Maryland more times than I can count. They have great beer brewed on the premises and REALLY good food. The food is superb, and not just for a brewery. The Buffalo fajitas are killer. I haven't been to the one in Long Beach so I didn't know about the space, but BWO's post says they can accomodate 60. Sometimes, they have hand pulled ale (aka cask conditioned) for those of you who really like your beer. When I go to Maryland for a couple weeks, I usually hit Rockbottom two or three times. I highly recommend it.

As long as I'm not out of town on the date everyone picks, I plan to attend.

p.s. It's kind of a pain to drive to Rancho Cucamonga or anywhere else in San Bernardino or Riverside Counties. The freeways inevitably get snarled up and it's about 70 miles from the Westside. The only thing out there worth seeing (other than the dirt people) is there is a Bass Pro Shop in Ontario.

We had a RockBottom here in Fresno for a long time before they went out and one of the local restauranteurs bought it and kept it a brewpub. The food at RB was most excellent, and I took quite a few dates there for dinner and beverages.

*crossposted from the OT version of this thread.*

Okay, it's time to move forward with this.

I have counted up the posts giving opinions on where to hold it and looked at the various venues. By the look of it Burbank has a solid lead and a clear majority. Also It makes arranging things easier because i can actually get there to deal with things!

So, after looking at the various venues it looks like Sportsman's Lodge in the Burbank area is it. It has the advantage of also being a hotel for those from up North as well.

To give time for people to clear their schedules and make arrangements I would suggest the weekend of March 15-16. Saturday night or Sunday night is the only real concern at that point, for travel Saturday might work better and leave the option for a Sunday morning run up the road for a shoot at Angeles as well!

So, chime in and let me know if that weekend works!

March 15-16 would be pretty bad. Arguments in Heller are on the 18th which means I'm flying on the 17th and that's a lot of nights away from the family.

How about the next weekend?

Oh, that's a good point, didn't think of the Heller arguments.

Okay we'll try March 22-23rd instead.

Sportsman's Lodge is good. I have been there for several events and they are reasonably priced. I think they have even hosted NRA and Hollywood shooters events.

For what it's worth, I have a commitment for the entire week of the 17th through the 23rd. Also, something may come up suddenly after that, with increasing probability into the first week of April.

Sooner is better than later for me.

I don't know if the open carry thing was going on way back when this occurred.

Maybe someone who attended will know.
