Why do you want to let the DOJ know about all the AR lowers not yet on the Roster?

Give it some time, dudes.

I thought that said rooster at first! I need to get more sleep .

I'm sure the DoJ already knows...after all, how could a government agency be so ignorant of current events? (half sarcasm)

What would you suggest for those that were not able to get a "real" "AR-15" before the ban?

I'd keep it limited to recivers you intend to purchase. No reason to make it tooooo easy for 'em! And hey another certified letter is just eleven bucks away.

That sounds reasonable. I guess the only task remaining is to find a quality affordable lower receiver (after all, I don't even have a job right now) that's not on the list.

+1. Somebody at the DOJ would probably get a promotion for their hard work in identifying AWs in the past year after plagiarizing the list you've sent them.

Just grab a Vulcan. Seriously. I can do major battle with the DOJ if I need to, I've even accused ADAs in open court of Prosecutorial Misconduct...

and *I* just barely want to do this!

Again, I really don't want to sound like a jackass, but I feel like I'm being asked how to go stock car racing withought a fire suit & suppression system. Considering the Vulcan is really the same thing, the extra insurance you get with it seems to far outweigh any other considerations.

I understand exactly what you are saying. It's a terrible feeling when you know that something is legal, but you still have to worry about being prosecuted. I just wish that more people would see the absurdity that these laws represent.

Edit: Spelling, It's about time to go to bed

Tell me about it. I'm still nervous about my Glock 10 round mags that I can stuff 11 into (and the pistol will feed 50% of the time.) Sigh, unprosecuted felons all of us.
EDIT: What mistake

Here is a post that shows pictures of lower receivers, the list looks complete but I would agree that you should probably give the DOJ the names of receivers you plan to purchase.

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=12&t=223495

As far as lower recivers go the Vulcan is a ar15, any gun smith or guy good with some tools can rig them back to AW status which is good enough but as other have mentioned Id like to have a stripped receiver in the safe just in case it turned into a AW and I would have one.

Id look into LRB arms as they make fantastic stuff and one side is blank for engraving.

Was looking through the list and found this...

You think that would be legal here? [sarcasm]

So does this mean that the whole buying a Vulcan in free America, bolting in the mag, and importing it is okay now???

Not really; still would need an FFL that would chance transfer and a DOJ letter.

Artherd said roughly two years. I've been corresponding with DOJ since April and still do not have a satisfactory answer.

I went back and forth with the DOJ essentially 3 times, over a period of 2 years, on this issue, before I was able to obtain a satisfactory answer. If I put all my efforts into it, I expect I could have finished this in around 6 months.

It took a GREAT deal of pressure on Harrott case law before the DOJ would outright admit it applied in writing.

Average DOJ time to reply; ~6 weeks.

Maybe they are strategerizing, and follosing this thread, to see how they could stomp on the Second Amendment faithful.
