OK I tried this with my AK mags and I got all the pcs. made but when I went to go assemble the mag the dowel was getting hung up in the spring or mag wall and not allowing me to load any ammo. I`m thinking that with the ak mag being much more curved than other mags its getting caught on the wall of the mag. Any suggestions?

On my AK 10/30s I put the follower stop on the bottom plate and not the follower itself. Works perfect as the dowel does not move.

instead of using a .375" diameter wooden/aluminum dowel, you can get plastic or delrin dowels from TAP plastics: http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/prod...50924567321508 or http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/prod...50924567321508

Good info.

Anyone had experience being "hassled" for these fixes, whether it was epoxied or riveted? At the range, public land, or elsewhere?

Seems like the photo links are broken. I would recommend a reliable photo host like Imgur.

Would be Nice if your gonna Have a "Sticky" thread that the Information(especially on the 1st Page)would ALL be there??
Kinda defeats the Purpose of Marking this thread as a Place to go for an info-How to source, when one cant come to it and extract ALL of the information needed.

I am in the process of converting my pmag and came up with a different solution. Instead of putting a rod in the follower, why can't you put a rod in the bottom spring holder? I see two advantages to this:

1. Your rod is not constantly moving with the follower, it will be stuck on the base (Should help with durability).

2. When you leave CA, couldn't you remove the base plate, remove the bottom spring holder (with rod), and reassemble with the spring resting on the base plate?

Would this solution be acceptable or do I have to epoxy the base onto the mag?

Here is a pic showing a wooden dowel in the follower, and one in the bottom spring holder:

From what I was told and in my reading of the law, I believe the modification has to be permanent and non-reversible.

Or someone could PM/email the OP and ask them to fix the post

Nice tutorial!

However, I see several issues with this, or similar methods:

1. This is permanent, if you move to a free state your stuck with 10/30 mags forever, until you buy more real 30's.

2. For only around $5 each, you could buy these MagBlocks and achieve the same thing; then remove to go back to a 30 if you move to free state. Or copy this design using wood or plastic.

3. Although they (10/30's) look cool, I'm not a big fan of attracting more attention. If it looks like an "illegal" 30, it may cause an undue inspection/hassle by a LEO!

Doesn't CA law require that they be permanent?

Oh and it doesn't take much imagination to see how you could revert these to true 30rd magazines if you move away from CA.
